Overall good quality leather and stitching
Just received this belt, so the leather is still a little stiff. Overall good quality leather and stitching. The instructions for sizing were easy to follow, and the mechanism that clamps the cut end of the belt works great. The belt is easy to adjust, is very comfortable, and I think the buckle has a classic look that goes with a variety of clothing styles, from suit to jeans. Very clever ratchet mechanism works and holds well. Great product!

Update: 3 years 2 months
I bought this belt for just under $40 in May 2019 (just over 3 years ago). I wore this belt probably 50% of the days. It finally broke at the buckles pivot point. PRO: It has been a great belt and the ease of adjustability is so convenient and comfortable. The synthetic leather has held up fairly well, but has had a split in the middle for some time; right at the base of my back when I’m wearing the belt. CON: the buckle is a bit heavy. Sometimes I wear my belt for “looks” and not to actually hold my pants up. At times, if I don’t have the belt very tight it will slouch down under the button of the pants which just looks weird. Though, that’s only noticeable when I wear a tucked in golf polo.Overall, the adjustability and comfort has made it impossible for me to go back to a regular belt. If the weight was cut down a bit and if the “leather” was a bit more dense it would be a nearly perfect belt.

Best belt I've purchased in years
Have you noticed that your belts fall apart after a year or two? I have. Belts aren't made of a single piece of leather any more--just a thin layer of leather on the front of the belt, another on the back, and a filler of some sort in the middle. Typically, at least for me, the back layer of leather deteriorates after a year or so, right at the holes used most frequently. The slide belts work differently. Instead of holes punched through the belt that are engaged by the buckle, the SlideBelt has a plastic ratcheting mechanism inlaid and sewn into the back of the belt. The buckle engages the ratcheting mechanism. No holes in the belt to enlarge after you've worn it a while. Hopefully it will last much longer than the previous belts I've ordered. The buckle is substantial, not in a bad way, and looks very solidly constructed. Engaging the locking mechanism is as simple as anyone could expect. It just works. And it works better than a traditional buckle.I'm ordering another one in black now.

Slidebelts was my best purchase
I have never made a purchase before that was so minor but actually changed my life. For work I'm always in slacks and dressed up but with a traditional belt I'm usually between hole sizes so I'm either cinched into my pants like a wench or sagging for my best thug life. Neither look ever worked for me. Being a bit heftier entering my 40s pants just always seemed to be ill fitting. Purchasing the slide belt has definitely made my pants fit better and sit properly on the waist and look so much more professional. I definitely recommend this purchase to anybody who's had issues with belts fitting properly.

Okay belt for high price yet has few flaws
Buckle is very smooth. Strap has average quality. I am giving it 2 stars because of few flaws for a high price belt. I have ratchet belts that cost $10 yet far better than this one. It requires some strength to push through the buckle when pushing strap end through the metal that bite the teeth. Holding the level up while pushing the strap makes it easier to push through the buckle and it doesn’t make a noise. Release the lever always leave a small gap open. It needs a little push to completely close the gap and it makes a snap sound. I left 4 inches extra after buckle and the strap end always pop out. I have other ratchet belt and none of them pop out. Ratchet system is a lot nosier than other ratchet belts that I own. A few notch higher. It is like turning a low volume to medium sound. I only have this belt for 2 weeks so I can’t fully tell the quality.

Adjustments are easy as is the length
Just received and tried it on. All appears to be what they say. Only objection is that the buckle releases with moderate pressure and I would prefer it to hold against a stronger pull. Adjustments are easy as is the length. Color and material are of good quality. While the price seems high, all my previous old style belts (with holes) would stretch at that week point and rip in less than a year. Hopefully the slidebelt will last much longer.Last time I had a buckle like this was in the Navy. I purchased in the Philippines to wear with my dungarees with a dungaree webbed belt. It lasted 3 years, was easy to adjust, and worked great. I'm hopeful that this slidebelt will be as good.Regards Captain Jim

Great belt
I've replaced many belts over time and 90% of the time it's b/c the most used hole has worn out, ripped and the material coming apart around it. This is my third ratchet belt and so far they seem great and couldn't suggest them more! Much cleaner look and less likely to wear like traditional belts. This one in particular seems high quality and couldn't suggest it more! Use it everyday with no issues what so ever!

nice belt
Update 2-22-2017: after wearing the belt for a few weeks, the finish started coming off the front of the buckle and looked terrible because the shiny base material is much lighter than the gunmetal finish. The zipper on my jacket was nylon so I didn't know what caused it. I emailed Slidebelts and included some pictures. They responded that the buckle appeared to be an older model and that they would send me a free newer model with better finish. To be sure that it wasn't the zipper, I bought a new jacket that has the zipper completely covered with a flap of fabric (fleece). Sorry to say, this buckle is also starting to have the finish worn away. I will look for another belt without holes and hope for better luck.Original review: It's great to be able to have such fine adjustment of the belt. With my old belt, I have some pants that will slip down when using one hole and then feel too tight when I go to the next tighter hole. This belt solved that nicely.
