I'm not smart about items like this, so perhaps there might have been a cheaper one. If you don't use this item often enough, the maintenance can be overwhelming for someone like me; however, after spending that amount, I'll keep this lopper in good condition. I stand about 4' 10" and I found this lopper to be lightweight, and I finished cutting the bush down in a few minutes...not joking.
