You won't regret viewing this film, both actresses doing some of their very best work in this film. I'm trully saddened however at the one and two star ratings given the film. The reasonings written in those reviews simply shows the lack of compassion in those reviewers hearts. They can say detracting things about the film, but deep down in most of those negative reviews, it's simply racisim. Showswhen at a cross roads in life we all have to make a choice to decide to let the tagedy dictate our future by being defeated and doing nothing more with our lives OR by getting back up and making small decisions each day to move forward in a productive positive way. Also love that the couple worked through the tragedy together..rather than splitting up. And the that the father's heart softened and he finally decided..through tragedy to be the father to his daughter even though late in life!! Well done..beautiful scenery, good acting..highly reccommend ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ ONE OF HILLARY SWANK'S ENJOYABLE MOVIES. *by R***O on March 21, 2015* At first, I felt that Hillary Swank was not acting like a mother who loves her son, although she takes him to the other side of the world to protect him from school bullies; the cure turns to be worst than the disease, unfortunately. As I'm watching, thinking, feeling the movie is not taking off I began to remember Red Dust, The Million Dollar Baby, Insomnia and other of her films, realizing Hillary has never played a mother. Her son dies from paludism, malaria defeating all the mother's efforts for his protection. To my surprise, Miss. Swank finds another speed and her quality acting begins. She plays a very convincing distressed mother and confused wife, who is lost in a test few of us will ever encounter. Hillary Swank is a consummated Diva of drama, her roll is most enjoyable, a bit sad but the story is rewarding in the end.
