Wow! You can't go wrong starting with this detector.
The media could not be loaded. I've been a detectorist for decades. I have owned and used scores of detectors of various brands. I love taking other people out detecting with me that have never tried it so I bought this one because it had all the features I wanted and looked to be simple enough to operate for those that come along with me. After a day testing it out and learning to operate it well enough to instruct a newbie how to use it in just a few minutes, I found this detector to be well worth the money. On test day I found numerous items including a brass lock, a skeleton key, several modern coins and a Sterling silver ring from depths near the surface to as deep as 8". As electronics advance I'm amazed at new features and accuracy of new metal detectors and this detector proves that. This detector has features that were very expensive just a few years ago. In the attached video you'll see the "Pinpoint" feature used to narrow down the exact location of the silver ring just before digging it up with the included mini-shovel.If you are looking for an economical, entry level detector with the advanced features and capabilities of a much more expensive machine - YOU CAN'T GO WRONG purchasing this detector. I'm very impressed. It took less than 5 minutes to assemble, put in batteries (2 x 9v - not included) and start detecting. You can set it to ignore different metals (called "descrimination") but after some practice you'll learn the tones that sound for various types of metal. Most experienced detectorists use the tone to identify objects because we don't want to miss anything like Gold which detectors identify as the same as aluminum pull tabs. So if you set it to descriminate pull tabs, you'll miss any gold! Oh and I received it the NEXT day with Prime.

Worked Great for this Beginner!
Played with an old Radio Shack unit years ago, but was left unsure I could really find anything important with it. So, I was a little hesitant to buy this. But, my father needed someone to re-find some surveyor pins and honestly I wanted to explore this hobby. The device was easy to assemble and very easy to use. I found the 2 surveyor pins in less 1 minute each after being pointed to the general areas. It was very clear that I had found them before digging at all.I am sure I will need more practice to become good with this detector, but I tested it with coins and a gold ring, and was very impressed with the results. The only changes I would make to the devices is to change it to use something other than the 9V battery it uses, which are becoming more difficult to get in some areas. And, you need to pull the batteries out when not using it as the slightest jarring of the unit will turn it on.All in all, given the spectacular price, I am really impressed with this detector!

Beginner Budget Detector
***Update****I’m still on the original batteries I put in and it’s still not “dead”, frequent use. I have found a rather big flaw. The machine will turn on by itself if it is accidentally hit or banged around lightly, very annoying when you are trying to conserve battery and you hear it beep on when your walking around with it. I just make sure it’s in a safe area when I’m done with it.My first detector, bought it for the price, under $70! Assembly is easy, instructions are clear. Takes two 9volt Batteries. The only issue might be short battery life. I used two brand new Duracels and was using the detector for about an hour and then battery is halfway drained, according to the battery life display. May need to buy a bulk pack of 9volts to have in the carry case. Other than that my son and I had fun finding a handful of coins nails bolts in our backyard. For the price it’s a great entry level detector!

Cheap metal detector but it works
It's cheap and it detects metal, I think this is great for kids. But the discrimination sucks, it lags, so it beeps when the metal detector is past the metal, and you have to slowly go back to find the spot it beeped on. But it's worse, it has auto ground balance and if you go too slow it just balances it out and stops detecting (so you can't hold it over a spot and get what kind of metal it thinks it is). And the discrimination seems so random, seems everything registers as iron most of the time, but also everything registers as precious metals, and you can't go over slow to get a more accurate reading. But it does detect metal, I found a silver necklace on day one in my backyard. Once you hit something you really need to use the pinpoint function, it works much better for finding spots, but turns off discrimination and you have to hold the button to keep it on.

Loved it so much I ordered a spare
This metal detector is extremely easy to use, and very accurate in its ability to identify metal types and depths. The discriminator allows you to exclude certain metal types, and simply works.Attached is a photo of one of my more interesting finds, what appears to be parts of a 19th century hand drill, which was very deep where we found it.While this doesn't have some of the extremely advanced discriminator options that other more expensive metal detectors do, if you understand the theory behind how these devices operate, you'll do just fine with this.I love this metal detector so much, I just ordered a spare in case anything ever happens to the one I'm currently using.
