Q: What type of oil should I use?

Fluid , a wool lanolin oil is great and one of the best. Even beeswax is good. Notwithstanding, WD40 is not a good metal protector. Metal will still rust using WD40. It has poor wear protectors. Hoorible for leather or wood sheaths.

Q: How easily does the blade rust? I live in a high humidity area where high carbon steel rusts even with fluid film applied.

Have owned this for maybe 10 years, I believe I will need to replace the blade (not sharpen-able) before it shows even a bit of rust In the CA Bay Area so not humid I keep it dry, don’t put any oil on it. This saw, along with my pruning shears and a hori-hori are always on my belt in the garden Saw is so sharp I can slice of most branches faster with it than clipping them with prunes
