This was a gift for my wife and she loved it. Very sharp and from her reports it holds the edge well.

I agree with George's review that this is not a real damascus steel blade. I further doubt that it's 'handmade'. Maybe hand polished but definitely not hand forged or shaped. Maybe that kind of thing matters to you and maybe not. I still think it's a good knife. Quite sharp out of the box with a non-aggressive look that allows me to use it in the office without worrying about frightening the occasional snowflake. The wood scales are quite nice and I really like the liner lock even though it isn't traditional to this design.It's true though that I bought it in large part for the 'handmade damascus steel' description that in hindsight I probably wouldn't buy again at the price I paid for it. This is such a great knife and unique gift. It doesn't look like much as far as the photos on Amazon but when you get it, it becomes this instant attachment to you. It has so much character, and the details on this blade are stunning. This is a perfect pocket knife, and I feel like it can last a very long time.

Not to Minh to this knife the material used is not true Damascus steel forged. It has 1 mm of Vg10 running down the center so you will never cut with the layers Damascus steel that is just on the size of the knife. I am a local dealer at the gun show is where I live True Damascus steel doesn’t have a thing to gauge metal that you can obviously see you running down the center of it which is used for the cutting edge In the Damascus steel is never used it’s only on the sides of the knife even though you can get VG 10 very very sharp but not as sharp on this knife.The only thing I have made about this knife is the assembly line all the blades are made in bulk

I'm sure the gunshow "expert" in other reviews, knows everything there is to know about knives. I have to agree. Most "Damascus" blades out there are not true Damascus steel (wootz). What you have here is closer to san-mai steel. It has a nice VG-10 core clad on both sides by pattern welded steel. It is a well construed knife with a great Japanese steel on the cutting edge.
