Every activity of Nature is within Cosmic Laws. There are no miracles. The author and the publishers hope to bring to the lay mind, in simple language, many of the truths now known to science and philosophy and thus pave the way for more truths and knowledge that may be woven into Wisdom. Surely every thinking mind will realize the need for truths and knowledge. It is only through these that wisdom may be attained. Falsehood, superstition and ignorance can never lead us to wisdom, nor to moral, mental and spiritual beauty. There is no standing still in our evolvement. We either progress or retrogress. This law is Nature's edict, not man's. Man's evolving as far as he has is due to Cosmic intuition or poetic genius that has driven him ever on, and mostly upward. All through the ages he has been seeking more light more power, more happiness, and more tove Science is opening the doors to a more positive advancement for man. It is proving that life's processes for man lie almost wholly within himself and are amenable to control and upbuilding. In the past man has been taught by exhortations, by affirmation, by superstition, but now we have teaching by proved and demonstrated facts. Science now knows that the building and evolvement forces within man operate almost wholly through the glandular structures of the body. We hope to bring the known facts of the glandular activities to the reader so that he will understand them and thus be able to live a fuller and more beautiful life. This volume is dedicated to all who seek more truth...(introduction) Review: I always wanted to know more about Maurice Nicoll, ... - I always wanted to know more about Maurice Nicoll, He wrote this book under the pseudonym, Martin Swayne. I gives some insight as to his feelings and his reactions to his earlier military/medical experiences. ("A slice of life" of the zeitgeist of that era and location.) I give it 5 stars because of my acute interest in Maurice Nicoll. Review: A fine example of the imperialist mindset - A British doctor in Mesopotamia โ Iraq โ during wartime. Very period, very British, very arrogant. A fine example of the imperialist mindset.

Through the eyes of a British Doctor
Interesting account of one doctors experiences during the British campaign in Mesopotamia. What someone who was actually there thought. Insightful.

Interesting insight
I picked up the book as my great grandfather served in the campaign in Mesopotamia and it gives a very interesting insight into this horrific and much forgotten chapter in World War 1. From the point of view of a medical officer, it tells of the badly planned and poorly organised campaign in southern Iraq. I can only imagine the horrors that confronted my great grandfather on arrival and the horrendous experience he must have had.

Special account of a relatively unknown Campaign. Well written with colour illustrations
Illustrations by the Author whose mother was an artist. Unfortunately the book's contents had to be submitted to the "authorities" for censorship and long sections were redacted. The book conveys the atmosphere and conditions very clearly. Well worth the read
