Written by one of the founding fathers of Quantum Information, this book gives an accessible (albeit mathematically rigorous), self-contained introduction to quantum information theory. The central role is played by the concept of quantum channel and its entropic and information characteristics. In this revised edition, the main results have been updated to reflect the most recent developments in this very active field of research. Review: Well written, too expensive - The mathematical clarity of this book is unbeatable and Holevo has a piercingly clear style. Terminology appears to mismatch with other sources like Wilde, but that's not too big a deal. Mainly my objection is the price. Such pedagogically excellent material shouldn't be this expensive. Review: Little Physical Insight - Totally mathematical. Theorems, corraleries, lemmas. Little physics or physical insight.
