Review: Very accurate, clean sounding speakers - I have been around high-end stereo equipment since the 70s. I have listened to or owned such classic speakers such as higher end JBL, Altec Lansing, Sansui, ADC, Bose, Acoustic Research, and Klipsch. I wanted a decent set of speakers for my hobby room (which is roughly 20 ft x 32 ft) but didn't want to break the bank. For $300 for the pair of Klipsch R-610F tower speakers, now that I've had them a month, I have to say they are extraordinary for the price. They deliver crisp but not overdone highs and a wonderful transition to clear midrange. The 6.5" woofers put out solid and clear bass, and the larger rear-ported bass reflex tower cabinets extend the bottom end. I've listened to solo classical piano, jazz, rock, and classical guitar on these speakers, and they have surpassed my expectations for these music types at various volumes. Now if you want to rattle the pictures on the wall or annoy the neighbors with bass or movie sound effects, you'll need a subwoofer. Barring that, these speakers have a very flat frequency response from 45 to 20,000 Hz +/- 3dB. Lots of speaker manufacturers say what frequency range their speaker reproduces, but they don't mention the +/- X dB which is very important. +/- 3dB means these speakers offer very uniform, "flat" frequency response over that range. Unless you want to play back dog whistles for Fido, you don't need any frequencies higher than 20kHz. These speakers are also very efficient, the "sensitivity" (how much sound they make at a given power input) is very good at 94 dB. The speaker cabinets weigh 36 lbs each so there's some mass there. The black vinyl finish is OK, and the magnetic-attached black fabric grilles look nice. I recommend these speakers for a stereo system or for the main L / R speakers for an audio-video system for those who want a very fine speaker at a reasonable price.
Review: Great Sounding Klipsch Speakers, Especially When Used As Rear Surround Sound Speakers! - When these Klipsch R-610F tower speakers went on sale for $300 a pair, it was really a no-brainer to pick up a pair right away. We are running these Klipsch R-610F speakers as rear surround sound speakers in our home theater (powered by a Denon AVR-S760H AV receiver). These Klipsch R-610F speakers are definitely an upgrade over the Klipsch R-41M bookshelf speakers that we had previously been using as rear surround sound speakers. Although, the Klipsch R-41Ms are now functioning very well (amplified) on my desktop computer, along with an 8 inch subwoofer. The Klipsch R-41Ms are definitely a huge sound quality improvement over the Edifier 2.1 speaker system that I previously had on my computer. We have these Klipsch R-610F speakers elevated on 6.5 inch tall speaker stands (actually heavy duty black foot stools) in order to get a little more height out of them for the rear surround sound movie effects, and also for multi-channel stereo music. Oh what a difference a little extra tweeter height makes in presence and clarity for the surround sound speakers. The sound output hardware of our home theater now consists of a Denon AVR-S760H AV receiver powering two Klipsch R-625FA (with Dolby Atmos height speakers integrated) front tower speakers, two Klipsch R-610F tower speakers used as rear surrounds, a Klipsch R-52C center channel speaker, and a Klipsch R-120SW subwoofer. This Klipsch line of reference speakers really sound amazing for the price, when both watching movies and listening to music. These Klipsch R-610F speakers will actually play some really low frequencies (rated at 45hz) for only having one 6.5 inch woofer. The Audyssey speaker calibration software in the Denon AVR-S760H receiver actually sets the crossover frequency for these Klipsch R-610F speakers at 40hz. However, we run these Klipsch R-610F speakers at 60hz, in order to give them some low-end breathing room, and send most of the lower frequencies to the Klipsch R-120SW subwoofer. The THX crossover standard is 80hz, but these Klipsch R-610F speakers do play very well down to 60hz plus, while using the subwoofer to pick up the lower frequencies, especially when listening to music in multi-channel stereo or Dolby Atmos modes. These Klipsch R-610F speakers are also fairly sensitive, rated at 94db, so they will play loud with very little amplifier power. The crossovers are set at 1,800hz, so most of the higher mid-range instruments and voices go to the tweeters. These Klipsch R-610F speakers are rated at 85 watts RMS, and 340 watts peak power input. However, I would take that 340 watt peak power with a grain of salt, as it can only be handled for milliseconds at a time. However, as stated previously, these Klipsch R-610F speakers will play LOUD with very little amplifier power. Of course, thanks to the one inch aluminum tweeters and the patented Tractrix horns, these Klipsch R-610F speakers also have that distinctive "Klipsch" treble sound that people either love or hate. I personally like the sound a lot, but for those people that wish to tone down the treble it can easily be accomplished in the high frequency (treble) tone adjustment or EQ settings of any good quality receiver/amplifier. These Klipsch R-610F speakers shipped from Adorama (through desertcart) in 3 days. The speakers were both delivered on the same day, and in perfect condition. These speakers come very well packed and protected, so be prepared to dispose of lots of cardboard and Styrofoam. These Klipsch R-610F speakers are very well built, and they are also fairly heavy and large at 36 pounds each. The speaker dimensions are 37 inches tall, 9.4 inches wide, and 15.1 inches deep (counting the width and length of the attached feet). The speaker cabinets are MDF covered with nice looking black wood-grain vinyl. The cabinets are reinforced internally and they do not resonate at all when playing low frequencies. The back of the cabinets have a huge Tractrix tuned port, and 5 way speaker wire binding posts (at the cabinet bottom), so banana plugs can be used. The banana plug holes are covered with plastic protective caps that take some effort to remove. I use FosPower banana plugs and 14 gauge OFC speaker wire with these speakers, and they both work well and sound great. The one Caveat that these Klipsch R-610F speakers have, just like all of the Klipsch Reference series tower speakers, are the 4 really cheap screws that are included with each speaker to be used to attach the plastic legs with. I suggest either drilling the predrilled holes a little deeper before installing the legs, or use some good quality, course threaded, self-tapping wood screws instead. I usually use my own good quality wood screws on the Klipsch Reference series tower speaker legs, and I have never had any problems when attaching the legs. Overall, these Klipsch R-610F tower speakers are really nice sounding and looking. The copper coated woofers and driver fasteners, along with the large Tractrix tweeter horns, make the Klipsch Reference series of speakers look very unique, to-say-the-least. Even though Klipsch Reference series speakers come with really nice magnetically attached black cloth grills (except the subwoofers, which attach with vibration-proof metal grill studs), I always keep the speakers uncovered because they look so cool. Heck, even the wife approves of the "cool" look with the speaker grills off (Yay!). The fact that the wife likes these speakers, as well as the great sound, quality, and look of these Klipsch R-610F (and all other) Klipsch speakers makes buying these speakers a real joy, especially at this great price level. Pick up a pair of these really nice speakers now, while they are still available!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Can anyone give me an honest, experience-based opinion on how these compare with the polk monitor 60?. I'm torn between the two.**
A: I know this is a couple of years old do I'm sure the op has made their choice by now but if my answer can help anyone else torn between these 2 speakers here goes. I have owned both. I purchased both pairs brand new from Best Buy because shippers can't seem to get tower speakers to me without damaging them. Anyway I still have the klipsch and sold the Polks. I also tried the Polk M-XT60 & M-XT70s. All 3 pairs of Polk speakers were good but for my particular sound preference the Klipsch outshines them all as well as JBL Studio 570 & 580 which I also tried and sold. I'm a bass head and the klipsch even though are only a single driver, took the win overall. The JBL both had superior tweeters but I'm not a tweeter head, they had 0 bass. All 3 pairs of polks were well rounded but distorted the bass at high volume on a modestly powered amp. The klipsch held their ground and came out on top and I still love them. I do also run subwoofers but not always so I want at least some bass when the subs are off. The polks might be great on lower powered or lower quality amps but of you have more than 50 watts RMS per channel, the klipsch will handle it where the polks distort. I'm sure polks higher tier speakers are a different story but I don't have that kind of money or hearing.

**Q: The Auto Audyssey setting the crossover at 40Hz is ok?**
A: No not really. Frequency response of these speakers is 45 Hz to 21,000 kHz. You don’t want the cross over set lower than 45 Hz. Furthermore If you have a subwoofer I would let it handle the bass below 80Hz. Make sure when you run the Audeyssey calibration, if you do have a sub, that you set all speakers to small. Or, if you want the towers to produce some of the very low bass, set everything to small but select LFE + main to get bass mirrored on both towers and sub. Either way, I would not set crossover below 60 Hz.

**Q: What is the width and depth**
A: Product HeightInfo
37 inches
Product WidthInfo
9.4 inches
Product DepthInfo
15.1 inches

**Q: What kind of plug ins will i need in back?**
A: Standard speaker wiring.
Plain exposed wire using screw lugs or banana plugs will work.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Sounding Klipsch Speakers, Especially When Used As Rear Surround Sound Speakers!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Crystal clear sound quality
*by T***L on January 29, 2026*

These speakers enabled a dramatic, very pleasing increase in sound quality and power- very good value. No need to opt for the more expensive Klipsch speakers. They are fairly heavy, so it takes a certain amount of wrestling to get them out of the boxes and set up.
