It does not teach you photography, but it walks you through every single menu option. Some of the options are self-explanatory, while other options are not so obvious. This is were the book shines, especially when it come to option combinations. The author even provides a suggested settings to get you started. This is a must have book, because the manual provided with the camera, leaves out a lot of information. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Generally good guide from the late David Thorpe *by J***N on Reviewed in the United States on September 21, 2021* We all know how bad camera manufacturer's manuals are, seemingly written by and for engineers not users. This book, by the late David Thorpe, tackles the heart of any digital camera's operation: the menu system.He does a good job, as other reviews will attest, but I'm knocking this book down one star because of the lack of an index, which would have been invaluable (there's a table of contents, but you have to know the menu structure before you can find what you want in the ToC!).Another reason for the one-star ding is that the book could use some illustrations other than the occasional image of a menu icon.
