I would not say it should be considered a buschcraft/survival knife. The spine is a little narrow for trying to split wood, clearing bark, etc. Actually, I would avoid using this blade on wood at all. Hopefully this helps. **Q: bade width** A: Thank you for your question. The blade on this knife is approximately 5/8" wide. **Q: Used the knife one time and washed it, after I noticed that the leather grip lost its original feel and look. Maybe the leather needs to be treated???** A: I had the same problem, took a little experimentation but what finally worked was some Maguier's automotive leather cleaner/conditioner. This just happened to be the brand I had on hand.
