Great tool to have if you are upgrading the network cables in your house. Troubleshooting and testing your cables is easy with this tool. Easy to read LCD screen.

Good e=inexpensive tester
Good e=inexpensive tester, works like it should. But nothing spectacular. If you use it a lot, I would probable spend a little more money and get the next model up, but does basic testing on a budget.

Great value and provides a lot of info
A someone starting a custom A/V Installation business I knew I needed a reliable and robust tester for F-Connectors and Cat5, 5e and 6, cable. I also love the ability to use the remote pieces to map individual cables in a bundle. I always label all of my cables on both while I'm laying them, but sometimes labels can come off or you forget to label one, or you just want to double check. This is great for that. The testing is great as well. It tells you what is wrong with the wire if it isn't passing the test. I do wish the instructions were a bit more robust around how to interpret the error messages. There are a lot of errors and after doing more than 20 cables am still learning how to read this thing.Having 6 F-connector remotes that are all male is not very practical, since the cable is always terminated at both ends with a male connector. This means I have to use female wire connectors (the type you would use to join two cables together) to use the mapping function. The remotes should be female (or do 3 of each)For the Category cable testing and mapping, the remote mapping pieces are all male and the remote tester is female. There should be an adapter for the mapping pieces to turn them into female incase you are testing a wire that is male to male. I basically don't use the mapping pieces for male to male (and to Klein's credit, having a bundle of male to male that you have map is probably pretty rare. On the testing side of Category Cable (unlike the F-Connector, the mapping pieces DO NOT test the cable, they only identify it - there is one remote for testing, so each line has to be tested individually) both are female (ie jacks), so if testing two female ends (wall jacks), you need to have your own wire to connect at both ends. What I have done is create two small (12" or so) male to male cables that I keep with the kit so I can connect the main tester and the remote testing piece to jacks (female ends).Overall, for the price this kit is a great value. Could use a few tweaks but I would still buy it again. I took a star off for poor instructions and for the poorly executed F-Connector remote pieces

Not at all up to normal Klein quality.
Very disappointed. This device is not up to Klein standards of the past. The display is not verygood, it is hard to read and has no contrast adjustment, the labels on the LANtest bugs are just glued on with some poor quality adhesive, 3 of them hadfallen off when I got the product. I do not like 9v batteries, they areexpensive and don't last long. The 'push on' F connectors are a bad substitutefor threaded connectors, they get loose and do not make good contact. Othersimilar products have backlighted displays that can be seen in dark attics, etc., this one doesn't. The lack of a carrying case is a major negative point, too many small parts to keep track of that can easily be lost! Finally, thenuclear bombproof clamshell packing is almost impossible to open.I've used Klein tools for over 50 years and always loved them but this is aradical downturn from their old quality, they should have stuck with pliers, etc. I can not recommend this at all.

One of the best verify kits I have ever used.
Bought this kit for the ability to trace down many drops at once. So far it has performed excellently. Putting a kit together from pieces on Amazon was cheaper than buying this whole kit already packages oddly enough. Not as tough feeling in hand as I would have expected from Klein, but solid and performs excellently so far. I would love to see them use the same rubber from their hand tools on the case of this tester honestly.

its ok i guess
i had a network tool before that i like this one is just not up to par..1.when you insert a network cable it should automatically begin testing the line for pairs if its already in that mode it doesnt2.when it has passed the test it should have some type of audible beep to let you know if your not sitting close its just nice to hear3.it should come with some kind of protective case like my toner and wand4.klein makes 2 models one that tells footage and one that doesnt.. why?stupid i think just make one

Well designed and well priced
If you have any level of complexity to your low voltage wiring, or move into a new house/apartment and need to trace what is connected to what, this is the device to do it with. Easy to use and no issues.

Works Great!
This tool is a great tool. I was able to correctly rewire a telephone jack. The display at first was confusing even after reading the guide. With patience and using common sense I began to understand the display about what was open, shorted or cross wired. The only thing I did not like is when trying to tone out a live phone wire. If there is any voltage on the line the device will not tone the line out. Luckily I have another toning device that works on live phone wires. This product does exactly what I need when it come to checking old data cabling. I had been frustrated trying to check out the old network cables. Now with the remote I can check both ends and know the cable is good even if they are rooms apart. Great product overall.
