Awesome!
Why I bought it:Didn't know what to get for my planted standard 10 gallon aquarium. Some clown recommended a 50/50 fluorescent T8 (was using a floramax but my tank was pink, ugly looking). My plants started to look funny and not flourishing. Results:I added this fixture and I kid you not, my amazon sword started pearling (pearling is when plants produce bubbles of O2). Plants are flourishing and growing super fast (I have anacharis, moneywort and HC)Notes:Take in account the size! The rails won't hang on my 10 gallon (same length, 20", but the fixture itself is 20", the rails add like 1" at the ends) but I don't plan on hanging in on the rails since I have a glass top. Don't, however, plan on hanging it without a glass top if you have an aquarium of the same 20" length. The fixture is able to hang on it's own plastic edges barely, but if you move it slightly the whole thing will fall on one side causing it to fall INTO the tank.I highly recommend this light fixture. More expensive alternatives to what this fixture can do. And as a plus the included lights are the CORRECT brightness that you need for a planted tank. A big plus that these are HO T5's. I'm currently trying to grow HC (Hemianthus callitrichoides "Cuba") and so far is growing well with this fixture.

Nice Kit but can't find lights for planted tank
So far so good, but I'm a little peeved that they sell these T5 lights yet nobody sells the lights for them in 6700K for planted tanks. In fact, in all of my online searching on Amazon and my LFS could search, the only lights we could find to fit this is 12,000K and that's not the kind of light you need for plants. Very upset over this, and had I known beforehand how difficult it was going to be, I would have just gotten a regular T8 or LED light kit.

It works great
Has a very nice appearance. The brackets slide out so it will fit properly on several smaller sizes of aquariums. The light output is great. For the price you cant beat it. The only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 is because the switch to turn it on and off is not located on the light fixture itself. There is a box in line with the power cord (that's way to close to where it plugs in) that has the switch located on it. If your going to use this with a timer then it's not an issue at all, but if you just want to keep things simple and flip the switch yourself when you want to turn it on or off then it's a hassle.

Great product for the price!
I found this product to be well worth buying. It works great for smaller tanks (10G-20G) if you want to have a planted tank. I looked far and wide for a dual fluorescent hood for my small tank, seeing as one bulb wasn't really strong enough to sustain plants, and I found this. It looks and works great, and the replacement bulbs, when bought online, are much cheaper than in local stores! It's affordable, and works great. If you have a smaller tank, though, be cautious of the strength of the bulbs, and how long you leave the light on; my newfound algae problem loves the new addition.Happy shopping!

EXCELLENT FOR 10Gal!
Love it, I actually bought some fixture elevators to give my tank the proper light, and now my plants are growing like cray cray! But so are the algae, which I have the many shrimps to take care of that. Awesome fixture for anyone in need of more light because of they have a heavily planted aquarium.

Pass on this. Spend a little more fpr LED.
Horrible product. Mounting brackets do not work with any lid or hood on the tank and sit in the water. Had it running for less than a month and both bulbs burned out. Struggled to fi d the correct size for replacements. Once I found them they lasted a week before the began flickering constantly.

Perfect fit and plenty of light.
I needed more light for my 55. I also needed to fit it into the existing lighting hoods. A few mods and they fit into the housings.
