## Description

Double vinyl LP pressing. 2010 release, the highly anticipated fifth album from the American Alt-Rock heroes. Come Around Sundown was recorded in New York at Avatar Studios and produced by Angelo Petraglia and Jacquire King. The album is the follow-up to the hugely successful Only By the Night, which sold over six million copies worldwide and garnered four Grammy Awards and two Brits, and is yet another bold and expansive statement by the Nashville, Tennessee-based quartet.

Review: Come Around Sundown - Have been anticipating this CD since KOL began playing tracks on their 2010 tour beginninig in Atlantic City ealier this year, I was not at all let down with this 5th CD. what I was most suprised was on the Bonus CD the track Celebration. starting out with a George Harrison "guru" rift Calebs vocals scorch in the sexiest tonees, there is a Led Zepplin feel that plays throughout the song. Unlike anything Kings of Leon has ever put out. But to get back to the Main Cd itself. I head them perform live Radioactive, Mary, "Southbound" er... Back Down South and The Immortals this past summer and was expecting to be let down by the studio version... in no measure did that happen. Even YouTubing Pick Up Truck and loving that live version did not compare to hearing the slower tempo studio track. this album has everything their past Cds have, great lyrics, heartbreaking melodies , original and tasty guitar work and Calebs unique and sensual vocals. I wish there would have been an "Arizona" or "On Call" super anthemic cut on CAS the closest would be "the Immortals" in that respect. My favorites at the moment are "Mi Amigo" and "The Face" the latter so hauntingly beautiful and poetic, it stands up against anything they have previously recorded. The only let down on this CD for me is "No Money". I know when I make my own personal mix, this will be one track I will not use. otherwise all in all...Five Stars for me!
Review: A Humble Follow Up to Commercial Success - I can see a lot of KoL fans being potentially disappointed after their 2009 breakthrough album. "Use Somebody" and "Sex on Fire" are unapologetically radio friendly and helped introduce many to the band. Come Around Sundown isn't as commercially friendly, but it does come across as an genuine and authentic effort. Many of the concepts in the album aren't what you would expect from a chart topper. Feelings of grief, hopeless, addiction, and poverty are littered throughout and paint an effective picture of KoL's roots. I love this album. I listened to it religiously when it first released and time has made me more fond of it. I still hate "Mary," and feel no shame skipping it on most playthroughs. Not only does the chintzy love song feel out of place conceptually, it just isn't a pleasant listen and grates heavily compared to the excellent three opening tracks tracks. Overall, I think this is a very interesting piece in KoL's discography and worth a listen to any fans of the band.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ KOL rocks my world!
*by N***. on December 25, 2010*

In my opinion, Come Around Sundown is one of the best albums of 2010. It has been in heavy rotation around my house since it was released in October. I think this is a lot different than "Only By The Night" - it seems to have a more mellow feel to it and the band seems to not be taking themselves too seriously. KOL is definately one of the best bands out there right now - they have a very original sound which reminds me of old time southern rock like Lynard Skynard. My favorites on this album are Pyro, Pickup Truck and Back Down South - although it is really hard to pick a favorite because I think all of the songs are just great. There are very few albums that I can put on and listen to all the way through and this is one of them. KOL rocks!
