Fixing this would either require a service visit or a manual workaround — which feels unreasonable given the premium price.When dialed in properly with a grind size of 30 and 22 grams of coffee, I pulled a 35-second shot with a 46-gram yield — the result was excellent.However, after experimenting with other drinks and switching to a grind size of 36 (based on the barista’s recommendation), the shot turned out bitter, likely from over-extraction. When I tried returning to my original settings, I couldn’t replicate the earlier success. Shots became watery and inconsistent.In summary, the machine is very fast for milk frothing, and it might suit those who mostly drink lattes or milk-based beverages. But for espresso-focused users, the lack of repeatability and control at this price may be a drawback. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I almost returned this machine during the first week. *by on Reviewed in the United Arab Emirates 24 May 2026* For context, I’ve owned the original Oracle dual boiler for nearly 10 years, used a Niche Zero grinder, and currently also own a Barista Pro, so I’m not new to espresso machines or extraction issues.My initial experience with the Oracle Jet was honestly disappointing. The espresso had a strange harsh “cockroach-like” taste, and the grinder didn’t seem dialed in properly out of the box. I tried different beans, baskets and settings and genuinely thought Sage had prioritized automation over cup quality. I was close to boxing it up and returning it.However, after some use, the burrs clearly seasoned and the machine transformed.Now the espresso is clean, sweet and surprisingly clear in flavor. What shocked me most was the clarity — especially using the smaller 12g basket. The shots became much more refined and palatable.I’m less convinced that the heated group head itself materially improves the espresso quality or has enough time to properly heat the portafilter during normal startup, but overall temperature consistency does seem solid in daily use. The automation is also extremely well judged:auto tamp is very good, though maybe one in ten tamps comes out slightly uneven or roughauto milk is genuinely excellentthe workflow is fast and low-frictionstartup is incredibly quickthe UI is polished and responsiveThe cold brew mode also impressed me far more than expected. You can actually hear the machine changing the pump profile dynamically, and the resulting drink tastes intentionally extracted rather than just espresso poured over ice.Most importantly, this machine has achieved something I didn’t expect:I’ve stopped using my Niche Zero and Barista Pro setup for daily coffee.That says a lot.This isn’t a replacement for a Linea Mini or a true enthusiast setup if your goal is ultimate manual espresso perfection. But if you want very high-quality coffee with minimal mental effort at 6 AM, this machine is honestly brilliant once properly broken in.My advice:Give the grinder some time before judging the machine.
