Since 1947, generations have trusted their favorite recipes to Accent. Accent has the remarkable ability to bring out and enhance the flavors of different foods. When you add Accent to meats, poultry, fish, salads, vegetables, sauces, casseroles, soups and stews, you’ll find they all taste more flavorful. The unique and subtle taste Accent produces is called “Umami” in Japan and is described as a savory broth-like taste. Umami is considered the fifth basic taste in addition to salty, sweet, sour and bitter. Accent works best on “savory”, not sweet, foods, so use it on all your go-to meals. The process used to make Accent is similar to the fermentation process used to make vinegar, yogurt and beer. Using glutamate goes back more than 1,200 years, when in Asia, cooks discovered that many foods tasted better when prepared using soup stock made from seaweed. In 1908, Professor Kikunae Ikeda of the University of Tokyo determined that it was the glutamate from the seaweed that had flavor-enhancing properties. Today, glutamate is widely used in Japan, and is usually found tableside for everyday use. Glutamate is a product that’s found in our bodies and in many foods including beets, tomatoes and cheese. The glutamate in Accent is made from corn. Accent’s glutamate combines with foods to bring out the flavors. Look for Accent at your favorite supermarket! ## Features - Use Accent seasoning on virtually all "savory" foods you cook - Delicious combination of spices to wake up the flavors in your food - 60% less sodium than salt - Terrific alternative to salt for any occasion - Used as the "secret ingredient" by many chefs that your whole family will love ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0004M0B4Y | | ASIN | B0004M0B4Y | | Best Sellers Rank | #13,662 in Grocery ( See Top 100 in Grocery ) #14 in Natural Extracts | | Brand Name | Ac'cent | | Color | Red | | Container Type | Bottle | | Customer Reviews | 4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars (3,071) | | Customer reviews | 4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars (3,071) | | Diet Type | Kosher | | Flavor | Natural flavor | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00047800000540 | | Is Discontinued By Manufacturer | No | | Item Form | Flake | | Item Package Weight | 0.16 Kilograms | | Item Weight | 4.5 Ounces | | Item model number | 1149875 | | Manufacturer | B&G Foods | | Manufacturer | B&G Foods | | Model Number | 1149875 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Pieces | 1 | | Part Number | 1149875-DUP | | Product Dimensions | 11.43 x 4.95 x 4.95 cm; 127.57 g | | Size | 4.5 Ounce (Pack of 1) | | Specialty | Natural | | UPC | 047800000540 | | Unit Count | 4.5 Grams | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Ac'cent - **Diet type:** Kosher - **Item form:** Flake - **Number of Items:** 1 - **Unit count:** 4.5 Grams ## Images ![All Natural Flavor Enhancer, 4.5 Ounce - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81v21yEv+qL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: Does this contain MSG?** A: It is literally just MSG.. it gives food a salty taste with less Sodium plus adds an umami flavor (the savory type of flavor that's satisfying).. it's really delicious and gives food an extra satisfying kick to make you smile after a meal..
