A good basic laptop
Had this for a while.I bought this for school since I’m on campus majority of the time & I’m satisfied.*Its good for casual game play, nothing too intense*The screen is an okay resolution, not too crisp*The webcam is not the best but its enough to know what you’re looking at*The sound is okay.. the speakers are on the bottom so its best to wear headphones*I constantly use this on campus so the battery does die in like I’d say 2-3 hours so make sure you’re next to an outlet*Its quite durable. Its survived some accidental drops on its side being in my bagpack (I forget its in there sometimes cause of how light weight it is)*I do sometimes have problems connecting to wifi but after a few restarts, its good to goOverall its a good basic laptop for school. I have a desktop PC at home that I use for heavy duty stuff.

Such a beautiful laptop
I love the design of this gaming laptop as it isn't too crazy and outlandish with the colour scheme and design! And you can't beat the specs for the price, size and beauty of this laptop. The I got the 256GB SSD + 1 TB hard drive version and it boots in 4-5 secondsComes with some ASUS bloatware but its easy to uninstall. All in all its a great laptop !

Great all round gaming laptop with some minorly annoying flaws
This laptop has met my every need once I managed to work out the quirks that come bundled in with it. For one, the built in speakers are pathetically quiet, even at full volume I can't hear a youtube video in anything but a completely silent room, the wifi chip that comes pre-installed on this laptop is utter garbage and needs to be replaced by an aftermarket model (this is not a particularly hard or expensive fix, especially if you have any experience performing surgery on computers). In addition, there is software from nvidia installed which will not allow the laptop to use the onboard graphics card unless the laptop is connected to its charger. Because of this, trying to run anything more taxing than google chrome on battery power will devolve into a laggy mess. These issues aside, it feels great to work on, it's incredibly portable, and when it's plugged in, I've had no issue whatsoever running AAA games and other high computing load software. If I had to do it all again, I think I would still buy this laptop.

Overpriced, and Now Overcooked
2023 Update:I bought this laptop for university and it did its job for the most part, save for constant wireless connectivity issues, even after replacing the network card 3 separate times and eventually caving and using a USB adapter. Things were all good until one day it refused to boot. The power would come on but never even progress to the BIOS or anything. I even left the battery to fully de-charge, charged back to full, and still dead. This laptop for around $1200 at the time only lasted 3 years, and those 3 years came with constant workflow disruptions. Quite the shame since the other hardware was excellent, but I can no longer recommend an Asus laptop after this experience.Previous 2019 Review:This is a great laptop that works very well for schoolwork and some low-end gaming. The only issue is the Realtek wireless card that comes with these. They're extremely faulty and drop connection very often. Get yourself an Intel 9260 wireless AC card for around $15 and everything is flawless from there.

Fast!!
This is my first SSD laptop so I'm unable to compare to others so please excuse my ignorance when I say, it's FAST!! I love it! It's perfect for my needs: internet browsing, MS Office stuff here and there, and some light gaming.

Great compromise and nice looking - Wrong i7 sticker??
Overall this laptop is looks great. The exterior is nice, it has a sharp, black textured brushed look. The plastic seems like it’s durable, the turquoise blue accents around the lid and Asus logo makes the laptop “pop”. It’s very stealth looking, which is great I didn’t want a laptop that was too gamer “flashy” for work/school, but still had the capability to run games for some casual weekend gaming. This laptop seems like a great compromise between portability and gaming. You get a decent battery life and thin design (compared to full gaming notebooks which don’t last much) and you get a decent GTX 1050 video card. You also get an IPS screen which is good to have.***I have yet to test the video card with BF1 and BF4, I will update this post soon***CONS:- Because it’s black plastic, finger smudges will be inevitable..... but it’s not the end of the world.- Access panel under laptop won’t be easy to take off since the access panel holds the USB/HDMI/Head jack/power etc. Wish they made a smaller access panel that didn’t go all the way to the accessories jacks.Note: This notebook comes with a 8th Gen i7 8550U which I verified, YET THE CASE STICKER SAYS “Intel Core i7 7th” which I find kinda disappointing. I wonder what happened at the factory and what can Asus do to help ??
