Great value for a home surveillance system. The cameras have the ability to see in the dark using their infrared LEDs for illumination, giving detailed 1080p black and white video (switching to color during the day or when exterior lights are turned on). These cameras actually see farther in the dark than when our outside lights are on. Eight different sensitivity levels for the motion detector allow you to dial in the perfect setting.

the cameras are great but you have to know how to install them there are a lot of wires involved but they are working great no complaints.

Seems like a lot of work to set up

If we didn't need for remote viewing, would have been sufficient. However we purchased this for remotely watching or being aware of someone in our home while we Snow Bird in Florida.The technical number for help is a joke. When I finally got through to a person, 1 hour and 22 minutes waiting, I was told that " THE ONLY THING I CAN HELP YOU WITH IS CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD" ( IS THAT TECHNICAL HELP??) This system would be great in a 7/11 or store where the floor can be looked over. NOT for checking on your home from another location.Not recommended.

We really like this system. Good picture cameras give good coverage just wish clearer instructions. We purchased two additional cameras but you can actually use up to 8...it came with 4

Great system but could not give it five stars. The manual is poorly written. The disc applies to other systems. The back panel photo doesn't match what I got. I am computer literate and I still am working through it's setup. Overall it could be five star with a better manual.

I haven't had the best of luck with items purchased at Harbor Freight. Most I find are cheaper because they are cheaper in build quality, but this home security system is an exception to the rule.It is very reliable and the build quality is acceptable. It was simple to set up physically, you just run the cables from the system to the areas you want surveilled. This is not wireless, so you will have cables running everywhere. If you are worried about asthetics, this might be a deal breaker.It was kind of a learning curve to set up the system and tweak it to get the results you want. All the code names and terminology were a bit over my head, but I still was able to figure it out pretty much in an evening. Instructions could be clearer, I have to say.The video quality is great, although I question the 1080p claim myself. What I have experienced looks more like super high quality vhs recordings, maybe a slight step above. Still, it actually went up and beyond what I was expecting, especially night time recordings.This system allows you to set areas within the frame that if movement is sensed, the recording won't start when set to motion. I leave my system on motion all the time here at my home and I can pretty much store a whole month on the drive, no problem.CONS:I really wish you could save small portions of video on the drive itself, such as you would do with a dash cam. You must have an external device like a USB flash drive to save any footage off the system.When fast forwarding through hours of video, it only goes up to 16x. This makes going through long portions of recording so tedious.But all in all, it's a great system and I do recommend!>>>Update: We have since added three additional cameras.
