It was older docsis 3.0 and needed to be replaced. Also easy to call cable company and have them enable it. The gateway menu options are similar and easy to navigate and wireless network setup is easy. The firewall now allows for other devices on my network that require other (different) ports. Before I had to keep setting on low (all ports opened) but now I can keep on medium for more safer network. Works great with 1gb network ports with cat 6 and wifi 1gb (current ISP is about 400gb). I have Arris products before with no problems. This time when My old cable modem was dmaged by a freak power failure, I saw this one listed as "used" like new. So I orderd. That was almost two months ago. Frome the beginning I had intermittent problems, but they would go away before I could troubleshoot. My sreaming would suddenly buffer, websites took forever to load, my wireless devices would lose Internet connection. Moral to the story...buy the NEW device!
