Design could be improved as the indicator text is not easy to make out specifically the indicator for polarity of batteries and button identifiers they are very difficult to read. However the electronics detect polarity and the led indicators are easy and intuitive to read. The unit will accommodate many different battery chemistries and allow user to modify charging schedule, without requiring users to have to delve into charging schedules but allows some modification if user is inclined to do so. I was able to resuscitate several batteries that I thought were dead. Review: A very functional battery charger capable of charging many types of batteries including 18650, AA,AAA, and C among others. It automatically determines the battery type so it is very user friendly. It is 12 volt compatible but does not come with the cigarette lighter cord and only comes with the 120 V cord. It can charge a single battery which most other AAA, AA or C battery chargers cannot do. The instruction manual that comes with this charger is very poorly written. It mentions blue indicator lights which don't exist. It mentions that the charger turns off when charging is complete but fails to mention that the yellow LED's never turn off. I finally figured out how to read the three yellow LEDS. When you insert a battery if all three LED's blink at once, the battery is defective and can't be charged with this charger. If the battery is capable of being charged, the first LED will blink. After about 30 seconds the first yellow LED will remain on constant after the charger has determined the battery type and the charging method to use and the second LED starts blinking. The battery is now charging. Upon a complete charge, all three LED's will remain on constant and the charger will stop charging. The three LED's never change colour and remain yellow during the entire charging process. The picture shows a Euro style wall plug, is that what comes with this? Will I have to order a US style?** A: Hi, Jason...that's a very perceptive question. I hadn't noticed that style plug when I ordered the charger. But no worries, the charger comes with a standard 120V two-prong plug. One other fact, the cord length is about 3 1/2 ft from plug end to charger. Charger works great...used mine again just today! **Q: Since it is not clear from the sparse instructions, is charging complete when all three yellow lights cease flashing? or when they cease completely?** A: When all three lights cease completely the battery is charged. I usually just feel the top of the charger if it's cool then it's done. **Q: If the charger stops charging when the batteries are fully charged, is it safe to leave one battery in the unit so that it doesn't discharge? Thanks.** A: No, you should remove batteries when they are fully charged. The unit has built-in protection to prevent overcharging but why put it to the test continually? The risk of fire far exceeds the benefit of having a fully charged battery. **Q: does this unit charge the CR123a batterys** A: If you are talking about primary CR123a then no. Primaries can never be recharged. If you're talking about RCR123a (aka 16340) then yes.
