To hold from the end the smallest is a quarter inch, Up to a 1/2 inch of round or square stock. The 1st relief in the jaw closed at a quarter inch followed by 3/8" and then a 1/2 inch. The whole flat stock you can hold 1/8 of an inch To approximately a 1/2 inch maximum. Depending on the size of your hand those numbers can go a little higher or you can modify the jaw with a file or a grinder. I hope this helps if you have any other questions please ask.
