What could be the reason for this?** A: Gusts of wind can cause short-term temperature fluctuations, which can lead to incorrect switching. Other triggers can also be exhaust air openings in the house wall or animals in the detection area. **Q: Why does the motion detector not achieve the specified maximum range?** A: For technical reasons, PIR sensors react best in a tangential direction of movement (parallel to the sensor). If the direction of movement is radial (towards the sensor), the detection range is reduced. **Q: Is the sensor waterproof?** A: The motion sensor is protected against splash water (IP54) and can therefore be installed outdoors without any problems. **Q: How high can I mount the motion detector?** A: The mounting height can be between 1.8 and 4 metres. A height of 2 m would be ideal for the sensor. If mounted higher, the maximum possible detection range is reduced. ## Frequently Bought Together - Steinel Motion Sensor IS 180-2 White, PIR Motion Detector, 12 m Reach, max. 1000 W for 6 LED Lights, Twilight Switch - Steinel IS 1 black motion detector, indoor and outdoor, 120° motion detector, 10 m range, surface-mounted and flush-mounted, IP54, (L x W x H) 120 x 80 x 50 mm - Steinel Motion detector IS 130-2 white, 130° motion sensor, 12 m range, for indoor and outdoor use, IP 54 --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.ec/products/59320343-is-180-2](https://www.desertcart.ec/products/59320343-is-180-2) --- *Product available on Desertcart Ecuador* *Store origin: EC* *Last updated: 2026-10-16*
