I had a few hours of research under my belt and decided to take the leap and purchase a scoby! I was able to start my first brew right away. However at the time I bought it there was not a ton of information out there about alternative options besides buy a scoby. Well I became overwhelmed with the continuous brew method and being a slightly depressed girly, I let it mold. No fault of the scoby, completely mine. Fast forward many months, I decided to try again but only if it was so simple and low effort. I just want cheap kombucha!! I decided to make my own scoby homemade using the synergy brand kombucha from the store. Now I just store her in a quart jar in the fridge and pull her out when I want more kombucha. All this to say I DO recommend buying this scoby. This is a great option if you’re just beginning to test the waters! If it gets you into the world of a healthier life style that’s ALL THAT MATTERS!! This scoby helped me on my health journey, although I no longer have this one I believe in everything it taught me. But I’m so glad I bought this Gaia SCOBY and gave it a try! It is so much simpler than I had imagined. The hardest part is waiting for a week while it ferments. Haha! I have a brew wrap keeping it a constant temperature (and warmer than my house in the wintertime) and it happily bubbles away. I am currently brewing my 3rd batch and enjoy trying new flavors (the flavor you see bottled is blueberry ginger!). Anyway, if you’re on the fence about trying, I highly recommend giving it a chance cuz it’s so easy and there’s next to no hands on time involved.
