These sound close enough and do a similar job and make my recordings sound better. Simple as that. No-one who buys our records cares if I used a Klark Teknik or an original 1176 - and they couldn't tell the difference anyway. All they (and I) care about is if the songs sound good, and they do. The 76-KT, in conjunction with a KlarkTeknik 2A-KT (an LA-2A clone) achieves that. I've read numerous reviews and watched many YouTube videos and the people who get the most out of these units are the ones that use them properly. The negative reviews are from people who are either unmiitigated gear snobs, or they are just plain using it wrong! I confess I was sceptical at this price (and I got an open box deal for a lot less!) but the proof is in the recordings. I absolutely love it and have no problem telling my fellow audio producers that I proudly use Klark Teknik gear. I also have a couple of bits of Behringer gear, as well as some high end gear, and I have been doing this since the 1980s. Review: Does the job! - I have seen some reviews of this saying it does not impart flavour to the tone and it does not have a natural driven compression feel. To my mind this is missing the point of this unit I use it on a very natural setting to just capture the rogue transients which it does well. For warmth and flavour I use the Klark Teknik KT2A compressor after the KT76 it has a much slower attack and release than the KT76, again used subtly both create professional sounding results. Off course not even these two a work as stand alone units you will need a pre amp signal to bring your signal up to the appropriate level at the input of the KT76 to start off with.
