Great little machine!
This is a great little machine to put in the corner of a room if you don't have space for a full-sized one. It started working the minute I plugged it in and after I hour it had 1cm of water in it already! I got this to replace an earlier one which didn't work at all and I was a bit apprehensive that this would be the same but I was well-pleased when I went into the bedroom and it had water in it after such a short time. It is whisper-quiet as described - the last one was very noisy - and we were able to stand it being left on in the bedroom all night. The room used to smell of damp all the time but since I've got this, there's no smell anymore which shows how well it does its job. Also, if you find that your wardrobe smells musty sometimes, just leave the door open whilst this is going and it will dry out your clothes too or you could put it right in there for a while - the cord is pretty long.Good little item - inexpensive and efficient - very pleased with it!

Effective but they tend to fail after a couple of years.
This is the fourth one of these I've bought over the last decade or so (and a friend has bought three) and I persist because they do the job. They come under different names, but are essentially the same, though some are 12V and some, like the one I bought here are 9V. The 9V ones use less power, are a bit quieter, and seem if anything to be more effective - in that dehumidifiers work best in certain conditions, and more power doesn't necessarily mean more effective. I use this in an unheated cupboard, about 6ft tall and 3 ft wide, for drying clothes and towels, and I would not want to be without it - I leave it running constantly (the solar power makes it free much of the time, and overnight it's on Economy 7). I wouldn't want a bigger one as it would waste too much power for this job. Drying clothes with a dehumidifier makes more sense than by allowing heat to be wasted from a hot water cylinder as in the old days. The main failure mode has been sudden failure of the power supply. 9V at 2.5A is quite a lot for a small switched mode power supply, and unfortunately a new supply is hard to find and generally costs more than the £20 I've just paid for a new unit. Another common problem is that the fan goes noisy, vibrating loudly. I took one apart, suspecting that the bearings were worn out, but far from it; the fan is a computer type DC brushless one, with beautiful smooth bearings. The rattling turned out to be caused sometimes by dust building up on the fan blades, but also by the presence of a small rubber O-ring on the shaft that appears to be there to act as a buffer to endwise motion of the shaft. Removing the O-ring fixed the problem - it seemed to be allowing the fan to bounce and rattle. So if you are up to it, repair might be possible, though it involves a fair bit of work! The worst thing is that I hate throwing these in the bin. If only products were designed and then evolved by fixing problems like this on the basis of feedback, we would have a much better world, but given that everything is made in China and I can't talk to the designer as I might do if it was made in England, then I just have to keep throwing them away, as with everything else these days!Anoother problem on one unit has been a sticking float switch that let the unit overflow. Not a big problem, but I couldn't see why it happened.

Don't buy
It worked moderately well for a few weeks but stopped working completely having emptied the well only four times. Really a waste of money. Unfortunately it's too late to return it

it would be nice if the power level were switchable)
The "ultra-quiet" is just a lie: you need to keep the door of the room it's in shut or the fan noise is annoyingly noticable from other rooms. It does extract moisture though, and without having to keep buying refills.I do have an older one of these, differently branded, that has a smaller power supply and is a lot quieter but extracts less moisture, it would be nice if the power level were switchable)

Effective and easy to use dehumidifier
It seems to work really well, very effective. The noise to me is very quiet and it’s easy to work. Works well for a room in a small flat

Keeps my campervan dry, which is what I wanted.
Seems to work well in my campervan except in very low temperatures.
