This is an “intelligent” soldering unit.
I can set a desired temperature appropriate for the soldering job being done. Very quickly heats to set temperature. Very good product for the price point. I’ve only used it upon a few jobs, but on those jobs it performed very well.

Fun
This is very well made and the price is so great. It heats fast and works like all the other more expensive ones.

Nice to have the temperature control. My old iron was a plug and go.
The soldering iron works well. It heats up rapidly to temperature and is really ready to use in about 2 minutes. The tips were kinda hard to tin but I think it's the solder that comes with the kit as others had mentioned. I was trying to tin some wires and some LED strips and was having a difficult time with it. I got my 1990s Radio Shack rosin core solder and poof, no more issues. So I think the solder is that comes with the kit is worth using as a paperweight, but not as a usable solder.I really like the iron, much better than my old 50 watt Radio Shack version.

Very useful
I had a 60 W soldering iron sort of like this which died. I got another electronic at 80 W, but after a few months, the electronics died so it did not work. I changed supplier to Amazon it from Amazon and got 120 W which works very well. I hope that the electronics will last long time.

Well worth it for a basic iron
The tips are good quality and heat up within about 30 seconds til you can start soldering. Ive used it daily for a few months and the tip still looks new even though im pretty rough on tips. The temperature control is so-so but you get what you pay for. The automatic shut off can be nice if you forget to turn it off. It uses a little ball bearing sensor to know when you havent touched it in a certain amount of time but the damn thing rattles so it makes you think something is loose inside but its not.

Useless soldering gun plus even less useful solder
I bought this solder because I had trouble tinning a 10awg cable for a tx90 connector with my 10+ year old $10 soldering gun. This soldering machine seems like an natural upgrade with 120w and with temperature control. Boy, how wrong I was.The first problem is with the solder that this kit comes with. It is just garbage. The solder is extremely difficult to melt and it does not flow at all on cables. The difference is night and day when I tried to use this solder to join a 14awg wire, and used a bit of my leftover solder out of frustration. Then it comes to the power. This soldering gun does not maintain its temperature as soon as it touches anything. It does not heat my 10awg cable hot enough for any solder to melt after minutes of holding it in place. I used a decent soldering gun before to join thick cables so I know that it was not my problem but the soldering gun's..

Well Designed, Well Executed Product
I have used soldering irons for more years than I care to mention, but this one is about the best. That is saying something, since I have had irons that cost over $100.00. The fact that it is rated at 120 watts is very impressive, as having that reserve heat can really com in handy. I suppose that there are many uses for this tool, but I am referring specifically to soldering electronic and some electrical components. The readout is large, bright, and easy to see, and the adjustments are convenient and simple to understand, (although having both the owner's manual and sales information proofread by a native English speaker would make it easier still). The auto 2 stage standby/off function is a great feature for those of us who get distracted and leave our soldering irons plugged in. The handle is lightweight and comfortable. The 63/37 eutectic point rosin core solder also works well, and I appreciate the assortment of tips provided. The stand is not great, but might work as a portable holder to throw in your tool kit. You really need a good heavy stand to have a proper soldering station. The cord is a bit short at about 4ft. 9 inches. Six feet would have been a better choice.Overall, I am VERY pleased with this great soldering iron and would recommend it for detailed work.

The only things worth keeping are the iron and tips.
The soldering iron and tips are good for entry level and small soldering projects. I question how well it would handle larger wire and material. The iron heats up fairly quick and feels like it’s a good quality for the price. The LED display and functionality is a nice touch which makes it feel a little high tech. The cons to this kit are that besides the iron and tips everything else is pretty much useless and even counterproductive to the point of making a small soldering job feel impossible. The solder that comes in the kit is absolutely useless. Don’t even bother using it, just toss it in the trash. It doesn’t melt or flow onto a clean, tinned solder tip nor does it flow into bright copper wire. The flux paste is non-corrosive so it doesn't help much when soldering oxidized metals. The stand and sponge are so small it’s comical. So the only thing that makes this kit attractive is getting a decent low cost iron with some tips. Do yourself a favor and buy some higher quality solder, flux paste and accessories to complement the iron if you go with this kit.
