The pump is quieter than my old one but you have to be careful not to over tighten it. If you do, you'll crush the rubber mount and the pump will be solid to the mounting surface and it will be very noisy. I had to loosen the mounting screws. With the switch system on this pump you can draw a small quantity of water without the pump starting. The pump holds pressure well. With my old pump it would run for a couple of seconds every hour since it would lose pressure. With this pump I can turn it off and wait a couple of days and when I turn it on, it doesn't have to run to build pressure because it's held pressure without bleeding down.
