This is an excellent drill guide set. I used one of the smaller guides to drill four 1/8 inch holes into a 5/16 inch steel rod. I was having great difficulty in completing this particular project prior to purchasing the drill guide set because I kept breaking one 1/8 inch drill bit after the other in my attempts to drill through a 5/16 inch solid steel rod. I used one of the smaller drill guides along with a vise in order to stabilize the metal rod and I was able to overcome the sticking point in my project. I would recommend this drill guide set because it's constructed of solid metal unlike some of their competitors. I purchased a similar product that was constructed from metal and plastic and the heat generated from the drill bit melted the plastic portion of the tool after one use. These are solid steel and they have weight to them. They can stand up to tougher jobs and will serve you well if you do a lot of drilling. The metal of the drill guide can heat up if you drill through it for too long so wear gloves.

I bought the four piece set. These are thoughtfully designed, and very nicely manufactured. And, they are made in the USA. We don't always have the opportunity to buy US-made, but in this case we do. I made the decision that any cost difference was worth it. I've used it to drill some holes through a workbench top, and through a round steel tube flagpole. In one case a drill press was not an option, in the other this was simply much easier than setting up to use a drill press. Both uses gave exactly the results I was hoping for. The gentleman that patended these guides I grew up next door to him as a kid. Very creative guy. I know I'll use them quite a bit. I'm always creating and fabricating things for my job to make things easier. These will come in handy so my projects won't look like Stevie Wonder drilled and tapped holes in my projects. These are a great idea.

These are extremely useful when you need to drill or ream without a mill, drill press, etc. Keeps tools from entering the cut poorly or walking during the cut, even if you're working at an odd angle. I used it to drill .0625 holes in a gas pedal with reinforcement webbing on the backside - perfectly straight holes, perfectly in size. 👍
