How wrong I was... if you follow the instructions they give you (don't let the bit tip overheat; use some form of cutting fluid; keep the rpm low), these really do let you drill through very tough stainless steel. Used the same bit for 6 holes and it still feels sharp. BTW, I didn't have any 'proper' cutting fluid so I just used a light oil - not sure if that's right but it seemed to do the job.
