The code is displayed on the set up of dvr on your tv or monitor and then using your phone or whatever you have xmeye installed on, point the camera (via xmeye) at the qr code on screen and it adds it automatically. Quality is good and the supplied installed hard drive is more than adequate for storage. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very versatile, good value system, but with camera night vision problem *by D***. on 2 December 2016* This was my first use of a Digital Video Recording system, and it's impressive at the price, except for cameras. There were a few problems in setting up: I couldn't get DVR working remotely using XMEYE on a laptop using Windows. It was necessary to use a tablet (or I suppose a smartphone would work) to create an XMEYE account. Thereafter I could view remotely on either the tablet or laptop. The XMEYE version for a tablet running Android seems reliable, but the version for PC/Laptop running Windows 7 is not. It worked for a bit in Internet Explorer (not Firefox, Chrome), then not at all. Overall, I found that viewing locally on a TV or Android tablet is a good experience, on a PC or laptop - no. The setups are comprehensive and it takes a while to become familiar with all the various features, and optimise it for your requirements. Having done that, saving the configuration to a memory stick would be a good idea. I don't know how much configuration data is retained if the power fails. I use motion detection to trigger recording, with some scheduled continuous recording. With motion detection there are of course lots of possibilities for false alarms - insects, birds, animals, shadows etc.. Regarding cameras, the orientation adjustment didn't inspire confidence, but I suppose they are cheap and the video is acceptable. When installed outside, neither of the cameras switched to night mode with IR illumination, even with no ambient light. The seller gave me a partial refund when requested, since it was too much hastle for returns. One camera worked fine indoors switching between day and night mode, but not when installed outside. It appears that the night vision function of the cameras only works if the ambient temperature is greater than about 15C (less than half year in UK?). I have made covers (looking like half a bird nest box) to go over the cameras to reduce the potential effects of weather. I can't comment on long term reliability yet, but it's been working for 9 months.
