The first one was a different brand and wouldn't work properly either (similar type machine), so I explored and found this one with mostly good reviews. Before giving this to my granddaughter (the first one I gave her for Christmas and I didn't open it to test it out - it got returned for lack of working- it kept jamming). So this is the replacement I bought. I had it sent to myself so I could test it out before giving to her. I sewed the elastic band inside my pajamas perfectly. It worked like a charm. I decided I would cut up a t-shirt and sew some seams and do some test stitches to give to my granddaughter along with the machine. I did this immediately after sewing the pajamas. I hadn't changed any settings or anything. When trying to sew the tshirt, the thread kept coming out of the needle. I kept rethreading it but then when the thread didn't come out, it would constantly jam and not sew any stitches at all. The needle broke! I tried putting a new needle in that came with the machine. The needle would not go in (flat side to the right as per instructions). I have experience with sewing machines and know how to thread a machine and replace needles. No matter what I did while the screw was loose, the needle would not go into the hole. I guess I'm going to have to spend a little more money so my granddaughter doesn't get disappointed with a crappy machine. DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP!
