Mc cutlery sharpeners and steels are German made, using only the highest quality materials. Experience the sharpness of a diamond edge in performance and handling. The solid core chrome-vanadium stainless steel is coated with up to 2 million synthetic diamond particles in a galvanic process. To enhance its resistance to abrasion, the surface is additionally hard chrome plated. Other cheaper diamond sharpeners use few diamonds, and use the cheaper, more brittle polycrystalline diamonds that are more brittle, less durable and are more aggressive. Over time polycrystalline, will wear fast. Also, lower cost sharpeners use fewer diamonds and do not provide a solid core, so you get a rod that will bend or break over time. We use only the higher quality and more stable monocrystalline diamonds, which will provide years of service.
