Since this product is concentrated, it's less important to obsess over refrigeration. The manufacturer suggests that the diluted and sweetened "finished" product should be refrigerated, but makes no mention of the concentrate itself. I wasn't surprised that a refrigeration directive wasn't suggested for the concentrated product itself, and it seems that the user would be free to take the large unmixed container to the BBQ site without fear of spoilage - a def plus. Concentrates are often inherently bactericidal.This preparation has a bright, piquant taste which is delicious but hard to place - difficult to say that it tastes like this or that. This is another plus, in that Blue Plate seems to be suitable for many uses. I used it today on pan fried catfish, and this turned out to be an excellent culinary choice - an adaptable recipe.Lastly, a concentrated formula allows for inherent flexibility. After roasting a great loin of pork, I used its drippings to dilute the concentrate instead of water which the directions called for, and this turned out to be an inspired choice. You can add more or less sugar to suit your culinary needs as well - not an option easily found any other way. You can also go with more or less added vinegar, say, as preferred. All in all, it's a winner, and I'll def make further purchases of this unique, flexible, and adaptable product.

I have been eating this sauce at a local BBQ joint that has been in business for 65 years. When it shut down without warning. Someone mentioned that this was the sauce they have always used. So, I ordered & it is indeed their secret sauce. My son & I love it. Will always have my favorite sauce available now!

I love this Bq sauce we used it when I was a child. I have been trying to find it for some time I haven't used it yet, but I am sure it good.

This concentrated sauce is easy to make. It keeps well in the fridge or freezer for a long time. It has a flavor of it's own and makes a great dipping sauce too!

This was ordered for reunion of 1963 era frat brothers who ate special chili dogs at a road house in North Louisiana back in the day..We found the old recipe calling for blue plate bbq sauce mixed with chili .It was great and we had lots of chili dogs and beer.. highly recommend...

Always loved Blue Plate BBQ. Can't find in stores now days. I am 62, Backs in the good days you could get Blue Plate BBQ in grocery Stores.Need to bring it back to them! My Dad always used Blue Plate and his extra additives, It was great!Thanks DG ClarkI will order when I need to replenish , Thanks

Perfect sauce, but the container needs some work before I would buy again. First one was busted and still delivered to my door even though it was leaking from the bottom of the box. The second delivery was also busted somewhat but leaked very little. I would suggest a request for a double box with lots of bubble if I ever ordered again. FYI - The sauce has a mustard flavor and has finely chopped up pickles in it.
