Has adequate padding and additional padding is provided. The rails are sturdy. I had to practically pry the plastic piece from the NVG mount. Applied my NVG mount and very sturdy. I was looking at the NVG mount while applying tension to see how strong it was held together. The mount did not separate from helmet-very good.
