For Centuries Irish Fishermen in the Aran Islands have appreciated the wonderful qualities of wool. Using this wonderful raw material they created a style of knitting and knitwear that is still recognized and prized today. Intimately linked to families and their identities, the patterns used have long held symbolism and some of which represent:The Cable stitch representing the fisherman's ropes. The Diamond stitch represents the small fields of the Aran Islands. The Moss stitch represents the seaweed used to fertilize fields for a good harvest.Merino Wool has a quality that other wools do not. Merino wool is prized for its luxurious hand feel. This is due to the fine diameter of the wool fibers that make up the yarn. The result is a wool that is soft and pleasant to the touch and to wear. Aran garments are deeply entrenched in Irish heritage, originally designed to protect the wearer while out at work. Now, they are a stylish piece of clothing reminiscent of days gone by. Irish knitwears from Aran Crafts are designed and created using traditional Aran stitches to bring you an authentic piece of Irish clothing, perfect for any occasion. Our selection of Irishwear includes the classic Aran crew neck sweater, Aran Fisherman sweater, Aran buttoned cardigans, Aran jackets, and Irish roll neck sweaters designed to suit every personal taste. Excellent traditional quality
I've had one of these for nearly 40 years - I bought it in Blacks camping in about 1988. I still wear it every winter and it still looks great. I prefer the simple fisherman's rib style to the fancy rope patterns of other Aran jumpers. What's weird is it never seems to get dirty so it hardly ever needs washing. I have no idea how that works. So, after 40 years of it being my favourite winter garment I decided to get another, but I was convinced the quality would have deteriorated like everything else. In fact, I am delighted with it. The new jumper looks more or less identical to the old one and is just as thick and appears just as well made. It's also just as warm. My only disappointment is that my old one always did, and still does smell of lanolin. The new one doesn't, but that may be because the wool has been dyed. Anyway it certainly isn't a deal killer, and I'm thinking of getting a third one now.For guidance, I'm 5'9", 46" chest, and a man with a belly. XL is the perfect size for me.

Wool sweater at affordable price
Good wool sweater that fits well and in a colour I like. The only thing that seems strange is the prices range from £64 to £109 for the same jumper in different colour and sizes.I paid £64 which is reasonable but I would not have paid £109.

Cosy jumper
Very warm jumper, 10deg out and can wear comfortably without a coat. Usually a size 16-18(female) and the Medium size is a comfy fit. Not noticed it itching so far as worn over a long sleeve shirt. Green is a lovely colour too. It is quite long, I’m 5ft, 3in and it reaches to top of my knees.
