I've been looking for a inexpensive, plug-in pencil sharpener and I found one. I will say that this sharpener is different then some of the others because it allows you to select the point (the sharpness) of your pencil; Dull, Semi-Dull and Sharp. This is an awesome feature because my youngest doesn't really need a super sharp pencil since he's still learning how much pressure to apply when writing. Whereas my oldest child, loves super pointed pencil so she can write in smaller font and in cursive easier. This is a compact device and it's simple to use. The pencil shaven are collected for easy disposal. The one I purchased will sharpen the standard size pencils. I've attached a picture so you can see the three different stages of sharpen pencil..hopefully you can see the difference.

At first I was skeptical about purchasing this item because of the significant price drop. I went ahead and ordered anyway. When I received the item, I right away put it to work. My old sharpener just would no longer sharpen pencils that I could use. Wow! This pencil sharpener cuts through like butter, super fast. I would say two secounds a pencil. I sharpened about 15 pencils in like 20 seconds. Definitely reccomend this sharpener. I gave it 4 stars for lack of waste storage. After 15 pencils, I would say it may have held another 5. But really, am I being unfair? After all, it is just a pencil sharpener.

Having used electric/battery operated pencil sharpeners for 15.yrs. and been very pleased, I was SO disappointed with the Victagen for it was SO SLOW and seemed to struggle to get the pencil sharpened. I tried it with new batteries to make sure that wasn't the problem but it didn't help, so have ordered one from OfficeGoods to replace one of theirs that I've used for several years until it just recently gave out. It was a about $2 more but the OfficeGoods sharpener worked very well even though a bit noisy.

To avoid RSI :-) this sharpener is great, I volunteer at my children's school and some days I am also silly enough to put my hand up to help sharpen the classroom pencils (why......), I took my sharpener to school and it is so quiet and fast it saves so much time and much better than the hand helds.Highly recommend!

I draw in coloured pencils and I need to keep them ready for use, I ummed and ahed over an expensive one (much more) but I thought this was such good value I would give it go.It can keep up with the sharpening and I sharpen a lot. It can travel with me for field work either on batteries or via usb so yes I am very happy.I also received it within 2 days.

It does what you need it to do and it does it well. Only giving it 4 stars though as it only comes with a US plug on the power adapter. I use it on battery power and it works very efficiently.

Would consider very carefully- not very good value for the price. Barely sharpens the pencil without getting jammed.It may run better on 115v power, but my experience in Australia (240v) - is dismal.

SadlyAlthough buying from the Australian site.It didn't come with an Australian plug.So had to repurpose a plug from another device and need to share this now.
