Review: Easy installation and no ride quality change - I installed this Firestone Ride-rite kit on a 2017 Toyota Tundra Crewmax. I have a camper shell on the truck and at the minimum 5psi, it has leveled out the truck perfectly. I also tow both a light, 3100 lb camp trailer and 3000 lb boat. Previously, with either of these attached, the rear end sagged too much. This is what I really bought this kit for. Installation was easy, the instructions are very good to excellent. The parts kit was excellent too, it covered everything I needed. I did deviate from the instructions on one step, the cutting of the rubber bump stops. The rubber is very tough, good Toyota quality, so I loosened the U-bolts holding the axle to the leaf spring pack and removed the bump stops. Toyota recommends buying new U-bolts when these are removed. I chose not to and re-applied locking compound and re-torqued the nuts to 74 ft-lbs. I did have to loosen and bop the U-bolts into place with a dead blow hammer after I didn't get them aligned right the first time. The hardest part of the installation was the alignment of the upper plate and marking the lower plate. With the rear axle on jack stands, jacking the trailer hitch made this a lot easier on the passenger side. I also used a silver sharpie on the black mounting plate, black on black is too hard to see. I mounted the air valves on each side of the license plate lined up horizontally with the trailer connector and with the license plate removed, about 1-5/8 inches left and right from the big hole behind the license plate. Total time for the installation was about 5 hours, 3 for first (drivers) side and 2 for the 2nd.
Review: Quick and Easy Install, Drastically Improved Towing!! - I can't believe how quick and easy this was to install on my 2015 Tundra Double Cab. It took me about an hour and a half to install with a couple of deep well sockets. I did not remove the rear tires or the spare as recommended and not once during the install did I ever wish I had. Other than the spare getting in my way a time or two as I was sliding out from under the truck I never knew it was there. The instructions recommend cutting the jounce bumpers off with a reciprocating saw, however, I simply loosed the u-bolts holding the rear leaf springs to the axle and I completely removed them. This way I can go back to stock if I ever wanted to (not that I would). I opted to buy a union tee so I only have one fill valve and one hole drilled in the truck. Doing this makes filling them quick and easy but I won't be able to compensate for an uneven load in the bed. Since I bought these for towing a travel trailer that part doesn't concern me. All the parts looked great and feel and appear to be very high quality, I am very happy with my purchase. This kit has greatly improved my towing experience. With my trailer fully loaded I tow around 6500lbs with 700lbs of tongue weight and with about 25lbs of air in the bags my ride is level and smooth with no more hitch bounce. I wanted to update my review to include something important that I left out. In regards to your weight distribution hitch; hitch your trailer up, inflate your airbags to the height you want, THEN adjust and setup the hitch. Not doing this properly can negate some or all of the effects of the weight distribution hitch and while it *looks* like it might be set up right or it might *look* like it's doing its job, its not.....and you could find yourself in a hard braking situation with little to no traction on the front tires. I have also settled on 20 PSI while towing and this is what my hitch is adjusted to. After it's all setup right your hitching process should be as before. Lightly rest the trailer on the ball, lock the hitch in place, put your weight distribution bars on, drop the trailer the rest of the way down onto your hitch, THEN inflate the bags. The first thing you should do when unhitching is deflate the bags.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will I have to drill holes in the frame with this kit, on a 2015 Tundra?**
A: I JUST PUT THIS KIT ON MY 2007 TUNDRA AND DID NOT NEED TO DRILL ANY HOLES. IT WAS ALL BOLT ON. Not SURE IF IT WILL BE THE SAME ON YOUR 2015. The kit said to cut off the rubber bumpers on the top of the leaf springs but I unbolted the u blots and removed completely it took me about 2.5-3 hours to install and my bolts where fairly seized up. breaking them loose was most of the time.

**Q: Will this kit also work on my 2013 4WD tundra**
A: I have this kit on my '13 4wd tundra. Works well.

**Q: Will this fit the 2014 Tundra crewmax 4wd?**
A: I have a 2008 tundra crewmax 4wheel drive with a powerglide 5th wheel hitch using the powerglide mounts and they all fit without any modifications.

**Q: can i use these air bags with a 5th wheel plate ?**
A: These replace your stock bump stops, so as long as anything you have for your 5th wheel plate doesn't interfere with your bump stops and maybe a 5-6" diameter circle around this area, then you should be fine.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Relatively easy install
*by G***R on September 7, 2018*

Installation took me about 4 hours. What you'll need, beyond basic hand tools: Salamander jack (the type that can slip under a vehicle easily) Sawzall Jigsaw Trouble light The jack is handy for access underneath the vehicle. Slip it under the rear differential and you'll have the headroom needed for an easier installation. Use the jack on the frame (side) to increase the space between the leaf spring and the frame for fitment. It helps greatly to remove the spare tire. Spend the few minutes to do this and you'll save yourself a lot of headache. Jigsaw: The top plate that fits between the top of the airbag and the frame wasn't aligned well and needed modification -- more room for the threaded stem on the top of the airbag required. I bought a "Y" splitter to have only one fill valve for both springs. The jury's out on this however, as a buddy questioned the ability of the bags to resist roll of the vehicle through turns. Rather than resisting compression, the bag that is being compressed would simply move air out of it and to the other bag (with the joint fill). We have a trip coming up and we'll just have to see how it goes. Easy enough to remove the splitter and go with an additional valve (included in the kit). Fitment: If you have the right tools, just assemble the air bag and adjust it in place. Get it fitting right and tighten everything in place. The instructions have you marking the bag and removing it; ughh, too much of a pain. I did the left side using the instructions and then did the right by fitting it in place -- much, much easier. A slim 9/16" gearwrench will fit the nut at the bottom of the bag, in place, and you can tighten it that way.
