## Overview

The Vestil FJB-16 Basement Floor Jack is a robust, welded steel telescopic jack designed for temporary leveling and stabilizing of floor beams and joists. With a maximum height of 16 inches and a load capacity of 9,738 pounds, it features a screw and turning bar for smooth height adjustment, dual-lock pins for secure positioning, and a durable red oxide finish for corrosion resistance. Ideal for construction and repair projects requiring reliable, adjustable support.

## Description

This Vestil welded steel floor jack post (also called a basement floor jack) has a red oxide coating, a screw and turning bar, and dual-lock pins, and it extends telescopically for temporarily leveling, bracing, and stabilizing floor beams and joists during construction or repairs. The floor jack post can be adjusted and set to any height within the given range, allowing it to be used in applications with different height requirements. Welded steel provides strength. A turning bar and screw bolt are used to adjust the floor jack post's height, and two dual-lock pins secure the floor jack post at the desired height. The floor jack post has a diameter of 3". Both end plates are pre-drilled and measure 3-1/2 x 6 inches. The floor jack post should be installed on a concrete floor or concrete footing, with either end up. Basement floor jacks, or jack posts, temporarily secure floor beams and joists in construction and industrial applications; they should not be used as permanent supports in new construction. Floor jack posts are typically made of steel for strength. They consist of an adjustable post and two end plates. The height of a floor jack post is adjusted using a screw and the post is held at the desired height with a series of pins. The bottom end plate must be installed on a concrete floor or concrete footing. Bolts must be used to secure each end plate to the structure the post is supporting, and a floor jack post's end plates may or may not have pre-drilled holes for these bolts. Vestil Manufacturing Corp. manufactures materials handling equipment, including jib and gantry cranes, loading dock equipment, and storage solutions. The company, founded in 1968, is headquartered in Angola, IN.

Review: Couldn't recommend more - This was easily the best Jack I've purchased ro my floor. It's reliable, easily spun without much resistance at all. Didn't come loose after heavy usage and helped jack up my main floor beam for several months while I did repairs to my flooring.
Review: Really good, sturdy jacks. - FJB-16 Jack: I couldn’t find details, so including them here. The tube is 2.50” OD and 0.080” wall thickness. The thread is M30 x 2.0 (approximately 1.25” dia x .080 pitch). The tube top cap (with the female thread) is 12mm thick (just under half inch). Cap is welded to the tube approximately 270 deg around. The base and top plates are 6mm x 89mm x 153mm (1/4” x 3.5 x 6.0) The only reason I cut this open was I need two of them to be approx 10.5” tall, so will be shortening them myself. I was going to make my own, but can’t even get all the material for the price of these! Would definitely purchase again. Way better made than some of the cheaper ones, and equal in quality to others costing 50% more.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Do you need to pour concrete footings for underneath the jack?**
A: Not necessarily, BUT these jacks must have a firm foundation or they may press into soft soil and loosen over time. Usually, crawl spaces under structures are damp - assuming your area of the country is not rock or hard ground. You can use precast concrete piers which can be bought at most building material stores or you can used crushed stone with a concrete block cap leveled in a bed of the stones. If you use stone and a concrete block, make sure you dig a bowl-like place to hold the stone and that it is big enough to have about 4 to 6 inches of stone bigger than the concrete pier or block. Level the piers or blocks before putting weight on them. These jacks are not designed to replace permanent house piers but to stiffen floors or help level settled floor joists. I used about 10 jacks to support 4 x 6 treated beams to lift and stiffen an existing floor. The short answer is no, the jacks don't have to have poured footings, but they do have to have footings that can spread the weight evenly. They should not be placed on the ground without some sort of footing. I have used them both ways - with poured footings for the heaviest loads and gravel-block footings for lighter weight areas. Hope this helps.

**Q: how much will this lift ?**
A: Well, the supplied rod used to turn the jack will bend. I bought some grade 8 bolts to replace them and used a cheater pipe and bent the bolts too. I don't know how much the house weighed, but the jack didn't fail. The ability to turn the screw limited how much I could lift. Also the lift height of 12-16 inches means the threaded shaft is only 4 or so inches long, so use caution not to screw it all the way out with a load on it.

**Q: Is there a locking feature on this jack to prevent it from creeping out of adjustment?**
A: No. Stay away from the end of the lift stroke also. the adjustment bar is cheap and will bend. Otherwise this does the job and has not moved once I adjusted.

**Q: Is this product available in other lengths?**
A: No

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ No-Nonsense Support You Can Count On
*by A***L on July 26, 2025*

I grabbed the Vestil FJB-16 while stabilizing a sagging beam under our back porch, and it delivered exactly what I needed: reassuring strength and simple setup. This jack might not look flashy, but it’s built to last—with solid welded steel construction and a red oxide finish that shrugs off rust and damp conditions with ease. The telescopic post and screw adjustment make leveling straightforward—even in cramped crawlspaces. It’s easy to dial in the exact height without fuss, and once locked in with the removable pins, this jack doesn’t budge. It held firm while I swapped out joists and added reinforcements, and I felt confident leaving it in place overnight. Little surprise moment: the crank rod works well in tight spots along walls or low ceilings, and I didn’t have to fight with alignment. Compact, but strong—and absolutely reliable. For under $40, it’s a small investment that solves big problems. Whether you're leveling floors, supporting beams, or tackling sagging joists, this tool quietly gets the job done. It's now a permanent fixture in my DIY toolkit, and I wouldn’t start a structural repair without it.
