I am a reasonably newbie to HF but not to HAM. Degree in Electronics. I have never had a HF rig that can filter a signal with a conversation to what i think and hear as their real voice would sound. Very impressive! The display is large enough to really navigate all menus easily. Display resolution is excellent. Can go right to signals and tune in amazingly. I looked at reviews and intros to the comparable Icom product and while less money, didn't offer the clarity this Yaesu has. Yes it cost more and well worth the extra $ in my opinion. I was surprised by how heavy it is. I want to try my own DX practice this summer and this Rig comes with SD slot to record. I think it will be a very long time to outgrow this rig.
