The clip onto the side of the cage and can easily be unclipped for cleaning, removal etc. I have been using these crocks for several years and they have little wear and tear. We have purchased well over 100 crocks and have only ever had issues with one and the company fixed that immediately. It simply arrived broken (one of the pegs).
