Smooth gloss wax surface (as a waterproof outer surface) - thick - and very sticky.

Tape is very strong and sticky, but the surface is shiny so cannot be written on and postage labels don't stick to it.

very plasticy finish on top of tape?
not the craft paper matt finish i was expecting (and have had before) not sure that it is all paper. Removed from the wrapping paper which shouldn't be necessary.

This is NOT Kraft paper tape
This is NOT Kraft paper tape. It’s very thick plastic-like in nature. It’s sticks to absolutely everything apart from itself which is an issue when trying to secure a parcel. Plus, as mentioned in other reviews, postage labels will not stick to it and you cannot write on it, even with a permanent marker pen. I had to use sticky remover to get it off my table and fingers. Horrible stuff to work with and not the paper Kraft tape which had expected from the description.
