Blackwelder Coffee, 100% Arabica Espresso Whole Bean Coffee, Fresh Roasted Coffee Beans 32oz (2lb) Bag | Rich Taste, Perfect Crema Finish

I've been searching for a roast that has a big bite like Italian Roast but full and carmel-ful, like classic espressos like the big Italian brands. This turned out not to be that, but it's still a delicious medium roast espresso. If you like your espresso more toward smooth drip coffee — or the mildest dark chocolate — and less toward something like cuban con leche, this is your roast.

After recently purchasing my first espresso machine, I was in search of the perfect espresso brand and roaster. I kept falling short and experimenting with brands that were either too bitter and without the flavor I was seeking. I was intrigued with Blackwelder Coffee and reached out to the roaster. Patrick called me back and answered all of my questions and I then felt confident to order my first bag. These espresso beans DID NOT disappoint and were exactly what I was looking for. Perfect flavor with hints of caramel and best crema I have ever gotten from a bean in my short time of my espresso journey. Thank you Patrick for your excellent customer service. Our fave beans! Not acidic at all. We’ve ordered these at least 5 times with no issue, but the last 2 orders have been a bust. One time, the beans got lost in the mail and the second time the bag had exploded in transit. Not Black Welder’s problem, but I’m still docking 1 star off for these 2 incidents.

I would like to be brief in my review. Great coffee for my jura automatic machine. It is a true medium dark coffee unlike the middle medium roasts that include Lavazza and even darker roasts like Kofee Kult. It was about a 7 in roast of 10 with kult being 6 and Lav being 4. The house smells like a college town coffee house when brewed in the morning. it is not the holy grail of coffee with my machine but it is an incredible value as a dark non bitter non acid with a punch in my cup. 5 stars.

This was actually our first real bag of espresso beans after getting our Breville Barista Express. Still working on the perfect 20 second pour, but it was really good. We tried a different bag after we killed a lb. of Blackwelder just to get a range of different types. We got the Super Crema from Lavazza next and while it is smooth, we were really taken back by how "bland" it was compared to the Blackwelder. I think we plan on trying a few more brands just for posterity sake, but we will always have a Blackwelder bag sitting next to the machine. So happy to find our favorite on our first purchase!

I started with a major coffee chain brand which was disappointing so I began to look through Amazon/Internet for reviews. I came across Blackwelder and it seemed to be a good mix of flavor, crema, and price. I'm aware crema doesn't necessarily mean great coffee but I prefer it. Blackwelder became my every day coffee for espresso and my usual Americano (x3). I like that it comes in a resealable bag as well. I'll continue to buy it as my every day - best part is it's a good value for what you get.

I've been roasting my own coffee for over 5 years and was a barista years ago in Italy. About 2 months ago my roaster broke so I started looking for 100% Arabica beans that had the flavor profile that I use to roast (Brazilian. Guatemalan, and Sumatra). I only drink espresso drinks. I looked through many espresso beans and found Blackwelder. This coffee is great for any espresso drinks with great body and lots of cream. I highly recommend it.

I have a rancillio silvia espresso machine, so it's all manual and things at time vary. Some shots are better than others, because of my lack of expertise....so I tend to be pretty forgiving of the coffee I use at times; or for that matter not to overly impressed, in case I get lucky and do everything right. I just got the blackwelder espresso and made a gibralter; of course tasted the shots straight before adding any milk.......the shots were great! Super color and layers; taste was strong and yet not bitter; very pleased and satisfied.
