You won’t regret it. *by E***T on December 2, 2024* So we ended up with fleas! It was awful. They were in my office and my daughter’s room next door. My daughter said she had fleas in her room and I had no idea it was so bad! I sat at my desk and within seconds I could see and feel them all over my legs. First we tried bombing with raid bug bombs and I followed the instructions exactly. They don’t work under furniture so it wasn’t effective at all. Tried the natural spray and what a mess! I’m still mopping up soap with every mopping I do. These lights were a lifesaver! Easy to use and they worked FAST. They will catch more than fleas so if a moth sneaks in or any heat seeking bug it will catch them. Highly recommend!!! My photo was after just a couple days! It draws them in with the heat. Works best with no other lights on in the room. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great as a secondary approach - location location location, so place it in a good location.... *by M***R on March 23, 2016* Some people love them and others hate them. I purchased 2 of these and some additional disks. We were finally at the end of our flea problem - thankfully the seresto collar worked to get the fleas off of the cat, however we still had stragglers in the carpet. The first day of use we had about 5 fleas - not great but at least it was 5 fewer in the house. Then the next day we had about 15 total. After about a week we noticed fewer and fewer fleas (after a month we are flea free). This product is not for major flea control but it is one more tool in the arsenal to combat the blood sucking critters. On a side note, now that the fleas are gone we have noticed that we are still catching the odd ball insects. We live close to a river/woods so there is no shortage of insects. Our disks have caught gnats and other assorted flying bugs, some of the outdoor palmetto bugs (about a dozen babies) thank god those got stuck - as im more scared of them than spiders. We keep one of these on 27/7 under our coffee table in the den, it doubles as a night light so no one trips over anything at night. Our disks have been lasting a few weeks and probably could last longer but I dont want to see dead bugs so I replace them due to the gross factor. If your not catching bugs in yours then move it to a different location. We found that keeping it close to where we sit helped to catch the fleas. We tried it in a different room and had very little luck. One was set close to our back door and we found that we caught more misc insects in that area (very few fleas). I know the light is suposed to attract the fleas and I agree, however I think fleas like people better and we still caught fleas during the day (not just at night) so I suggest to keep it on all of the time, not just at night. It does need some modifications though. *by J***Y on April 5, 2015* Works reasonably well, but the glue isn't quite sticky/thick enough, and it only comes with 2 inserts. They would do well to include a bottle of the glue to spray on, and encourage people to make their own inserts. I'd pay extra money for that! As it is, I'm planning to purchase some crafter's spray glue (in an aerosol can, the kind that never really dries, I haven't picked a brand yet) and just use one of the inserts I have as a template to cut out new inserts from old cereal boxes and other packaging so it can be effectively re-used. I think it would really be good PR for Aspetek if they would encourage people to re-purpose their packaging, by including an extra bottle of glue spray! They could sell those bottle separately as an alternative option to the separate inserts already available, for those of us who want to do our part to help save the environment. Having that bottle of spray-on-glue being a non-aerosol bottle would be even better!A miner quibble:Somehow, the included light bulb wasn't obvious enough - it got lost in the packaging, at first, so I went out to Dollar Tree and bought a set of three 7 watt bulbs. It's good to have extras, of course, but I wouldn't have gone right then if I'd noticed the bulb sooner. It might be good to tape the bulb onto the inside of the orange top plastic portion of the flea-trap, so people will see it sooner while putting the trap together.A major quibble:This thing isn't 100% fire-safe. The bulb may be low wattage, but there is still a potential for this to be a fire-hazard because the bulb and socket don't rest perfectly centered inside the central hole in the top orange plastic piece of this trap. There needs to be either a snap-in "port" for the cord to sit in, on the outside edge of the top orange plastic piece, or the socket needs to screw into the central hole of that piece and then have the 7 watt bulp screw into the socket from the other side. Also, there needs to be more space between the bottom of the bulb and the orange plastic piece.One question:Has anyone tested this with an LED bulb, to see if it's really the heat that the fleas are attracted to? I'm curious to know if this trap would be just as effective with an LED bulb or with other types of bulbs.A suggestion:I noticed that a lot more fleas were trapped when I included a tiny piece of my cat's wet tuna canned food in the very center of the trap. It might be interesting to find out what, other than blood, fleas are really most attracted to. They originally come in from the outdoors, so my guess is that there's something out there which feeds them, aside from random animals passing by. Something else that seemed to help a small bit was putting sugar crystals in the center. Anyway, I think it would be worth it to test various "enticers" in the middle of the trap, and see which ones attact the most fleas inside of a day, then divide those numbers by 24 to get a solid average hourly rate for each enticer.Another suggestion:They seem to die quicker when I spray Simple Solution flea and tick spray on them (they don't die right away in the trap, as the glue isn't sticky/thick enough). It might be good to include a similar type of natural oils "pesticide" in the glue that's sprayed onto the inserts. It at least might be worth it to test and see if that would help at all. Since they survive for awhile on the inserts, they may eat some of the glue and die faster that way, if it has something in it which would kill them on contact.A third suggestion:Include a 1" x 1" grid that forms a "screen" that covers the two large holes formed in the sides by the top and bottom plastic trap pieces. Such a grid doesn't have to be a perfect single piece, but could be included in the molds for the top and bottom pieces, so that the grids over each large side-hole would appear to be horizontally "split" across the middle "equator" of the trap. This is to keep nosy kittens, puppies, and other small but curious household pets out of the trap. I wouldn't make the holes in the grid much smaller though, nor would I make the grid-bars more than 1/8" thick, because anything that makes the trap less accessible to the fleas will just block them as they attempt to jump in.A final suggestion:Multiple bulb ports. I think a single 7 watt bulb isn't enough to catch fleas at the high rate necessary to truly control the flea population within a highly infested carpet of a typical room in a typical home.
