This is my second one, the first lasted for 8 years with heavy use. Unfortunately, I dropped the lid and stepped on it. Great quality, very strong and durable. If I didn't break the lid, this would of last for many more years to come. The blade remained very sharp and the unit/motor still ran perfectly. By heavy use means I had used it pretty much everyday. It can hold a lot of foods,herbs etc. It does not strain or reduce RPMs with heavier products such as butter that is still firm.. I love that it has a forward and reverse spin. You dont have to consistently take the lid off to push whatever you are blending (such as Butter). Heaver material tends to roll up into a ball and is pushed it upwards, away from the blades. Simply use the reverse spin (chop) and it will pull the material doward and continue to mix/chop/blend. If I dont step on the lid again, I am sure this one will last for many years to come. Love it, Cuisinart has not made any changes to the processor through the years. As we know in todays market, many manufactures use cheaper materials so items wear down quickly. Thus, you have to replace more frequently. This is the exception, strong and built to last.
