My current favorite remedy
I would characterize myself as a moderate canker sore sufferer - I tend to get them just occasionally, but they can become pretty bad during times of intense stress. I undergo such periods a few times a year at work, and suffer with 3-4 sores for a few weeks each time. I'm frugal and want effective remedies, and I tend to comparison shop. I compared Zilactin to Orabase and Rincinol. I haven't tried Canker-Rid - I couldn't get over the high cost, but might sometime.Of the 3 I've tested, I like Zilactin the best. the great things are that 1) it's effective at providing relief, and 2) it's easier to apply than Orabase. I found Orabase to also be effective, but much harder to apply. Rincinol is the easiest to apply, being a mouthwash, but was the least effective for me - maybe a little better than nothing, but not much. The one downside to Zilactin is that unlike the other two, Zilactin stings when it's applied. It's not too bad and the sting goes away within seconds, but if you are particularly pain averse, this might not be for you. Zilactin is also a dark brown color - I suspect it might stain teeth if you needed to use it a lot, and would probably stain clothing if you made a mess - but I can't comment on either of these aspects. One final comment - I feel like Orabase and Zilactin speed up recovery by a little bit - and when I say little, I mean by just a couple of days (out of a couple of weeks of total duration). I don't have good data on this - it's just a suspicion, and in a controlled experiment might not be real. I wouldn't give comments about accelerating healing too much weight, as I don't think this particular potential benefit is significant enough to warrant consideration in anyone's decision. That said, Zilactin is my current preferred remedy. I'll update this if I try others.

most of the time I don't even want to eat or drink anything because my mouth hurts so bad. Sometimes it even hurts to smile
This stuff is a life saver. When I get these sores or whatever, most of the time I don't even want to eat or drink anything because my mouth hurts so bad. Sometimes it even hurts to smile. This product fixes that. You should still chew with caution because the "bioadhesive" (or whatever you want to call it) can come off if it gets played with enough, but it is wayyyyyy better than having to deal with the pain of the sore.In my honest opinion, my sores also heal much quicker when I use this. I just used it and saw my tube was about to run out so I ran to Amazon before I would forget. Pretty much swear by it. I've tried other products and they seem to mainly numb, this feels like protection + healing.

Oral Super Glue?
I wanted to love this, but I only just 'like' it. The thing I love about it is the clear film it makes over your sore. However, for sores in weird locations (for example, where the pink flesh joins the cheek with the gums or on the tip of your tongue), it's not great, and it burns like the dickens until it hardens. It kind of super glues your mouth together. Then, it doesn't all dissolve, and I had to scrape it off even after brushing. I gave up on it after a few days, because I felt like all of the pulling was making my sores worse. However, I have since tried it in an easier location, and it was a slightly better experience. However, I actually didn't feel any 'numbing' action. Ambesol certainly does a better job of that. Ultimately, what provided some relief were more natural remedies.

Works wonderful but Tastes terrible
Tastes terrible but works good as advertised. In the case of bad canker sores it can burn but will numb a minute afterward. Only product I've found that not only is an analgesic but also has healing qualities or might promote healing.

I was so happy to see it on here because this product seems ...
Periodically I suffer from severe canker sores, often several at a time. This is the only thing that I think works effectively to both treat canker sores and also relieve pain. I was so happy to see it on here because this product seems impossible to find in stores these days

Saved my mouth
This stuff saved me! I just got orthodontics (the clear plastic ones) and as an adult who works with people all day, talking was killing me from a sore a developed from the first week on wearing the retainers. It hurt so bad I had to leave work early. I couldn't fully dry the area effected before applying becuase it was right by the salivary glands but it still is sticking and works! I'm so relieved to have found this!

It works.
This works better than anything on the market. The key is to apply it to dry skin and to let it dry after application. It does sting at first but, then there is blessed relief for hours! The white patch that forms protects the sore so that it heals faster as well. The only draw back is that it's so hard to find in stores. Thanks Amazon!

If you suffer from canker sores this is a must
I get canker sores fairly frequently and this works better than anything else. I first acquired some from my mom who works at a dentist office. It hurts like Hades to put on the site, but once on it forms a protective coating which helps expedite healing process. Nothing in the store works as well as this. Orajel is a joke

unfortunalty places like cvs or walgreens no longer sell
this is the only thing that helps get thru a canker sore for me because it leaves a thin film over the sore and stays a long time if you dont play with it. unfortunalty places like cvs or walgreens no longer sell it
