Can the shoe lace go through this hole?** A: Bead lace--like plastic string you use to make kids bead bracelets-- if it's the size I have (1mm in diameter) goes through just fine. You use this plastic canvas in place of waste cloth, stitch your cross stitch pattern, but then how do you remove the plastic grid?** A: The first half is correct. You use the plastic instead of cloth, but it's holding your stitches in place so you don't/can't remove it. Think of it more as a really really rigid cloth. You don't need a ring to hold it taught, and when you're done you can leave it as-is or trim it down close to the stitches . **Q: Does the 14 mesh plastic canvas come in sheets any larger than 8.5X11?
