You need this to attach to the cleaning solution bottle and the filter head for the actual unit. Basically, it's a bit of plastic. Yes, there's some design to it, etc. But it's a plastic adapter. $60 is insane. And to add insult to injury, after I completed the who cleaning process, I had an error in the water system that required me to pull it out of the cabinet -- and lo and behold, there was one of these sitting on top of the system, left by the installer we used. So I already had one, and I spent $60 bucks on an extra plastic adapter. If you need it, you need it. But shame on Grohe for charging so much.
