It may not work as well for your usage, but was exactly what I needed! Review: Use The Cable That Comes With It - Purchased this Zheino IDE HDD Case for an old IDE 2.5 inch HD. It was delivered on time and came with a USB mini cable and the case is constructed of a hard plastic. There is a small computer board that sits inside the case that you can lift out and connect it to the HD then place the whole thing back in the case making sure the light and the USB mini connector lines up with the appropriate holes in the case then snap the lid back on and you're good to go. I used an old USB cable I had laying around and my computer wouldn't recognize my drive. I connected it to other computers with the same results and connected the drive to another device I have just to make sure the drive was good and it was so I emailed Albert at Zheino and he got back to me within a few hours (good customer service) but I had already switched cables with the one that came with it and Voila it worked. The lid on the case is difficult to remove. It has raised areas on all four sides to catch a lip on the sides of the case which keeps the lid secure. Too secure, so I took a knife to the raised areas on both sides and sliced them smooth. The areas on the shorts sides keeps it secure enough and now its much easier to to remove. In summary this is a nice light weight case at a very affordable price that doesn't require any tools to install the HD in it and it's plug and play (as long as you use the right cable, my bad) and I would recommend this case. Those extra pins are apparently just there for the laptop it was originally connected to, acting like a mechanical key, and not a data port. In other words, not a necessary connection point. Given that, I think you might try this enclosure, if the size is right. It is inexpensive and I can’t see that you have other options. I have been happy with the one I purchased. As a matter of fact I just found another old IDE HD so I'll be ordering another case. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked well; a few minor quirks *by W***D on October 16, 2021* I used this Zheino enclosure to hold an older (IDE/PATA) 2.5" 160 GB disk drive for portable use. Drive installation was a piece of cake. With most of my computers, drive operation was perfect. I have not encountered any corruption of files or the partition table. I have encountered a few quirks: 1) On a Windows 7 machine, Windows PNP didn't find a driver when I first connected the unit. On the second and subsequent connections, Win 7 did find a driver that works fine. Neither a Vista nor a Windows 10 machine had any trouble with PNP. 2) On one Windows 10 laptop, the drive would mount correctly, but would sometimes disappear at a random time during use. The drive has always (so far) reconnected properly when I unplugged the USB and plugged it back in. However, as a data-safety measure, I will not use this drive with the laptop where the intermittent disappearance occurs. 3) Once I snapped the case together, it was difficult to reopen it to remove or replace the hard drive. I was going to test the enclosure with a different drive, but gave up, since this was only a matter of curiosity to me. A great bargain.
