I particularly like the three lead arrangement, it's quite a clever way to null out the resistance of two - leads by giving you a third lead to use as a secondary current path just for measuring two of the leads. Assuming that all of the leads are pretty much identical, this gives you a pretty good idea of how much you need to subtract from the reading across +/- leads with the sensor in between.
