Id say this belt cannot take more than 180lbs unless you replace the standard hoops with heavy duty harbingers. Had to replace the hoops with heavy duty carabigners. Belt can now take 270lb which is the max amount of plates that will fit on the belt **Q: Can this be used as hip squat belt ?** A: I'm sure it can, but if you're using 45s they'll probably hit the ground. **Q: Does this dip belt also work as a weight belt? If not, are there any belts out there that serve both purposes?** A: I was always wondering if there are any belts which serve both purposes because I didn't want to buy two different belts and carrying them together...it would be very inconvenient....and actually I found one...it is WSF Genesis Universal Lifting/Dipping Belt...I'm not sure if I would buy this one though... **Q: does the chain long enough to hold 3 45pounds plates?** A: Depends on the type of plates -- at my gym they have some 45 lb plates that have notches along the outer edge. I found a better solution though -- I wrap the chain once around a 125 lb dumbbell and the chain is more than long enough. This belt feels great around the hips and the clasp, chain, and belt material have held-up extremely well over the years. This belt has held 180lbs+ on mutliple occasions and its high quality has not degraded. It has been a staple in my gym bag for years and i'm sure it will continue to be.
